Big thank you to the hard working members of the committee, and all that helped out on the weekend.
And a really Big thank you to Garmin for my new Oregon 200 GPSr unit.
Equally big thanks to Team Crackers of "Southern Cross Fireworks" as well as Phulonphil of "ProFormance Pyrotechnics" for donating the product for the fireworks display,
I would also like to thank Steph (Little Miss Muggle) and Luke from the infamous "Coffee Clan" for all their fantastic help with the setting up of the spectacular show.
It was a pleasure to meet so many more cachers, and I look forward to meeting them again
I am already planning ways to get some time off for the next Oz Mega.
Well done to all concerned.
Dicko, Sue, Steph, and Ashleigh.

My name is Derek Forsyth, user name dorik and I would like to thank you for a very enjoyable weekend at the OZ MEGA event over Easter. I have been on committees such as yours organising large events like this and I know the amount of time and effort it takes to make such an event a success and yours most certainly was. It was great to meet other cachers and put faces to names and to meet so many around town all doing the same thing and I can only say that your organisation of all aspects of the weekend was superb.
I would like to make a suggestion that would I feel help a little if ever another such event was arranged (I really hope this will be the case). As I said a good part to the weekend was meeting people and I feel it would be easier to do that if there would be a plan of the site posted at HQ showing the location of the sites by number and giving the names of the people occupying them. Also I feel it would help if all attendees displayed at lease A4 size their logos, if they have them on their tent, caravan etc.
One again a very big thank you for the weekend – a job well done.

Didn't get to partake of all the enjoyment due to other commitments in Wagga that weekend but what we did see was a lot of fun.
Our kids loved the helicopter drop, the easter egg hunt and the barn dance in particular.
Well organised and I didn't talk to anyone who attended who had anything but good words to say about the event.
Cheers

Well what can one say that has not already been said?
We are proud to have been on the organising committee for this Australian first, in fact Southern Hemisphere first.
The time spent during the past eighteen months was well worth the effort when the Mega Event finally rolled around and we were greeted with a sea of smiling faces. We tried to provide something for everyone with activities that adults as well as Geokids would enjoy. From the feedback received including the attended logs it would appear that the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
We would like to thank the rest of the committee who worked tirelessly for the past eighteen months to ensure the success of this 'Fantastic' event.
Next Mega stop Geowoodstock VIII.

Hello we are brand new Geocachers. Started yesterday and found our first two caches. I think this will be very addictive for both of us.
To the Organisers and committee of OZ Mega Wagga Wagga. I was approached by baby&MrsGopher to have a go at designing your Logo for this event. To my great surprise, my design was accepted and used for this event.
Yesterday, baby&MrsGopher called in to see me and presented me with an Oz Mega Geocoin in recognition of my design and I was completely stunned to say the very least.
It is one thing to see the design on a computer screen or on paper, but to actually see this design on a Geocoin, and to have one of my very own, it is something I will always treasure.
I am told that this event went off extremely well and has set a standard for future Mega events world wide. This can only realised by the hard work and dedication of the organisers of this event, and I take my hat off to all of you.
Best wishes to each and every one of you. You now have a new Geocaching team who are looking forward to joining in on this new form of treasure hunting and a big thanks to Barry & Anne for helping us get started.
Kind regards

After all the good times of the Oz Mega have finished, many thanks must go out to many individuals and groups for their professional input into the 4 day mega event.
Firstly to the major sponsor in “ Riverina Campingworld “ for being involved 18 months ago when we had a venue and Committee and nothing else.
To Wagga Wagga City Council for all their advice and assistance through emails, fax’s and phone calls over 18 months within Tourism, Events Management , Parks and Gardens plus their gift packs and hamper donations and Corbie the Crow approval.
Much appreciation goes to Camp Kurrajong and the scouts for their great facility ,well manicured grounds and acreage, many meetings of assistance and advice and much more ,where nothing was too much to complete when requested. Also the Wagga district rovers and scouts who volunteered for marshalling and other duties.
St John Ambulance for their 4 day onsite service with two rotating volunteers at all times within the bunk room set-up.
Wagga Base Hospital Auxiliary for their 4 day on site dedication to keep geocachers fed with keenly priced meals 3 times a day and some great smiles to go with it.
To Wilsec Security for keeping the campers secure during the nights .
To all of our proud 28 Sponsors who put all their faith into some exciting and new with many going over and above any expectations. Much appreciation goes to the Eunomy fire brigade who stood besides the fireworks GZ spot with fire engines, watered down dusty areas and supplied the Tin Shed Rattlers with 70 hay bales for stage effects.
Special mentions to “ Partic “ for his online registration assistance and to “Southerncross Fireworks “ in Team Crackers and Fullonphil.Your Firework Spectactular was the highlight of the event and even out performed the Wagga Show.We are all still in awe of your incredible donation to Geocaching.
The two entertainment evenings put on shows to remember and we truly thank the professionism of Don Hillam and the Tin Shed Rattlers. In tandem with this was Rick and Ben priest for a class act of sound and timing for all entertainment. We also thank whoever blessed us with 4 days of the most ideal weather conditions anyone could of asked for. To all our local and event volunteers ,we thank you for dedication towards something special.Plenty of accolades to the Riverina Media Group for a final day free gift to the teams with highlights of the event in the Daily Advertiser copy per team plus DA Dog approval.
Much personal thanks must go the Hinklenator ,Freeunicorn and my own farmers 5 team of seven kids and Karen ,who all kept the Coke Vans ticking over for 4 days.
A massive thank-you goes out to all the Riverina Geocaching Committee for 18 months, plus ,of hard work, committee meetings , incredible suggestions, new ideas, research, brilliant dynamics, and the highest standard of professionalism that will probably never be equalled .
But finally we would like to thank the near 700 “Geocaching Family “ that attended Oz Mega Wagga Wagga .The mind boggling distances geocachers travelled from around Australia and overseas by any means possible astounded us . Your behaviour and cleanliness was first class within camp and around Wagga Wagga. It was a pleasure to be hosts for such a great group of friendly easy going people who seemed to enjoy the spectacle that Riverina Geocaching Committee produced.

1172. 02/05/April/2010. baby&Mrs gopher Attended and helped to organise. . Well, after many meetings and lots of e-mails back and forth, the MEGA Event is here. baby was one of the lucky ones in that from Tuesday after work until end of packing up on Monday the following week baby was able to firstly enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding scene then the hustle and bustle of what turned into a very busy camp area. Good Friday was soon here and to be standing at the gate when the first vehicle pulled off the road with what was a bright happy smiling face was the start of what to baby&Mrs gopher was a wonderful 4 days. The day visitors more then added to the carnival atmosphere with everyone making the most of the meet and greet game. If it wasn’t for the smiles, the laughter, the banter of old and new friends greeting one another, and the noise and all the sounds of the kids as well, this would have been just another event. But each and every one of you, the attendees who took the time and travelled all those distances from not only Australia, but from other parts of the world as well, made the MEGA EVENT WAGGA WAGGA the success it was. The friendship extended by you all helped to make this event what it turned out to be and baby&Mrs say THANK YOU ALL.

Our trip started in Adelaide and with a quick stop over in Mildura we arrived in Wagga to see a convoy of cars flagging us down. It was great to be welcomed to the city by Liz and Bruce, Skippy, Macamob and Parrotheads from there it was a quick trip out to Forest Hill to show the eldest geokid where our first ever house was. Thursday Nights pathtag swap reminded me of a market place in Bali with all the battering and dealing. Friday Morning we were overwhelmed with the tent city that was begining to take shape. Saturday the Kids and I marvelled at the awsome firework spectacular. Sundays easter egg hunt had the kids excited and it was certainly an easter to remember. Thank you to all the people who made the event possible. We really enjoyed the games Thank you to Team Crackers it truly was an awsome display. and a big Thank you to all the people that made our weekend wonderful.

As a volunteer to this great event, it was a privledge to help out some hungry committee members who spent so much time making this event possible. A huge task by these few dedicated people has made this an awesome event. A huge thankyou to the Hinklenator who introduced me to geocaching, which has now got me hooked. Atmosphere and people at the event, was overwhelming to say the least, Mix and Mingle, fireworks, entertainment, helicoptor drop, easter egg hunt, megopoly, chance and community chest, were all well executed and kept everyone enthusastic with brillant results. Everyone was talking about how good these games were. The people friendly and fun and everyone was so well behaved. A chapter in Wagga Wagga's history that all committee members should be proud of. Well done everyone, and two thumbs up.

Now that I've made it back to the States, I wanted to post a thank you note to everyone. This was a fantastic event! For a first event it couldn't have been beat. The entertainment was great. But best of all, was meeting everyone. Everyone couldn't have been kinder to us. It was well worth the trip there. And I did find me a kangaroo in the wild for a picture. Thanks for putting this on for us. I'll ve watching for the next Australian mega and hope to attend it. I hope to see some of you at one of our events in the future.

There is not much more that we can add to what has not already been said before, however we would like to add our thanks to the following people;
The organisers
The volunteer staff,
The hospital auxiliary for the great meals (at such cheap prices),
Team Crackers for the great fire works display,
The sponsors,
The entertainers
And all the other unnamed people who helped to make this such a great event.
We would also like to say hi to all the other caching teams that we met over the preceding days, who also helped to make this a great event.
And finally to the people of Wagga Wagga who were so friendly even though it must have looked like we were doing something "suss" in their park. They were all interested in learning more about geocaching.
Thanks to all and we are looking forward to the next one.
Cheers,
The Swaggies

Was sent to me by a fellow Geocacher in Kent in England to be included in the OZ Mega Event in Wagga Wagga.
It was addressed incorrectly the first time which delayed it arriving on time. It arrived while we were travelling to the event.

*FTF* By chance, drawn with luck, when so many more experienced and skilled cachers were not. We are both humbled, honoured and excited to be both the FTF and inaugural winner of the first Oz Mega Event, the first in the southern hemisphere.
On Good Friday we drove from Leeton on the old Narranderra?? Road along the river. The day started by watching over 20 ballloons launching in the early morning opposite the caravan park. Wow. Cached selectively on the way and finally arrived at lunchtime. The rest of the weekend was simply, fantastic (and all the other superlatives everyone else has used or thought)
We would like to thank the committee for putting on an event that has exceeded everyone's expectations. You have obviously worked tirelessly for a long time.
We would like to thank the sponsors who have allowed us to have such a wonderful time for only $30- where else in the world could we get such value. I know our appreciation is unlimited, I hope you feel the same.
We would like to thank the volunteers who worked tirelessly on our behalf, whether they be the the scouts at the front gate who greeted us, to the marshals around the grounds, the committee, to the wonderful volunteers from the Wagga Base Hospital Auxiliary who kept us fed. We thank you, we had little to worry about and so we could enjoy caching and meeting new and old friends.
We would like to thank Team Crackers (now we know the origin of your name) for putting on the best and longest fireworks display we have witnessed.
We would like to thank our fellow cachers for the camaraderie and the willingness to help, teach and share. I don't think there are too many competitions around where everyone is competitive but wants everyone else to do just as well. Thank you.
To the CSIRO magazine that came to EB Max, thank you for telling us about this wonderful sport that will continue to take us to so many interesting places.
Thankyou to Wagga Wagga, you are not just the city of good sports, you are the City with Wide, Welcoming Arms. As you have always been. You were excited to greet and embrace us and we were sad to say farewell.
Thank you for the memories. They will be cherished and I'm sure, will be exaggerated in time.
We look forward to seeing everyone out caching, at the next event, or just catching up for a beer.
We look forward to seeing everyone at Australia's and the Southern Hemisphere's Second Mega Event, may it be sooner rather than later.
Cheers

Also the volunteers who gave up their time to help us out, some of them all week before and after the event. thank you so much
All the teams that came to make it such a success, I enjoyed meeting and talking to all of you.
I cannot believe how well behaved this large group of people were. Each night it was quiet and peaceful, perhaps everyone was worn out from the caches and waypoints from the games of the event, but i would like to think it was just the good friendly people of the geocaching community.
The mix and mingle game did not turn out how I thought, with so many people wanting to grab my name tag, never had so many people want to grab me, and they were either thrilled with what they found, or disappointed not to find what they were looking for, had a lot of fun and was good to break the ice to start a conversation.
I loved how everyone returning their entry forms for each of the games had so much fun doing it, seeing Wagga Wagga and meeting many of the teams at the waypoints.
I checked on the pirate chance game on saturday with my kids and could not believe how a path was trampled between each of the way points, who needs a GPS? It was great to see so many out enjoying the props and having fun.
Big thank you to Hospital Auxiliary, for keeping us feed, bacon in the morning was too good to pass.
Thanks to HINCO for looking after the kids all weekend, and keeping the troops fed before the event, while I worked.
Had a great time, and it looks like everyone had a great time, which is very pleasing.
Cheers

Our first mega event, we had a ball, geodog had fun camping with us at Camp Kurrajong. Great event, loved the games - thanks to megopoly we saw a lot of Wagga we wouldn't normally have seen. Very well organised and thought out, nightly bonfires were a highlight too. Thank you to the organisers, volunteers, caterers and team crackers for putting on a great event and show.
Can't wait for the next one.

What a great weekend our first Mega Event, our first time camping with a camper trailer, and our puppy. The weather was fantastic, the organization, entertainment, the facilities and activities all first class. A great thank you to the organizers for your effort and the time that goes into staging such events. Also to Team Crackers for the fireworks simply fantastic. To those who we caught up with, and new friends we made thank you for your kind words and assistance. We will certainly be at the next one, and that time our kids as well.

This was quite an amazing event. I did not know what to expect but it could not have been better. Meeting so many cachers was such a buzz. The events put on by the organisers were really good the highlight being the fireworks. Absolutely amazing job done by all the organisers, obviously a lot was done beforehand by dedicated people. Thank you one and all for a great event.

Mr.Coffee was recovering from back surgery but with a very understanding surgeon I was going to get to Wagga one way or another and the surgeon did say “short drive distances only , many breaks, gentle walks with basic stretchesâ€, now it all made sense of those numbers written on my back in texta during surgery they were coordinates to a puzzle cache the doctors were trying to solve..
The drive up was slow but under surgeons orders many caches were found and logged. We arrived at the Farmers5 home late afternoon Thursday and during the evening watched to tally of TB’s and coins logged into the event mount up with a pondering question was Pprass planning on heading to Tasmania soon..lol.
It was an early night and an even earlier (bugger! sunrise) morning but thankfully the coffee flowed before we headed to the event campground (sometimes we have to sell our soul to instant).
The scout camp over the day filled up to an impressive site of caravans, tents, motorhomes and campertrailers, whilst the HQ was a sea of balloons and color which really set the scene for the whole weekend.
The weekend was a never ending array of entertainment, caches, prizes and some really inventive games. The monopoly challenge was a huge success and the rumor I sold my soul-answers for a few awesome delicious coffee’s is purely a rumor spread by a few Tea drinkers, and the same goes for the rumor that some cachers swapped answers to complete it faster…horrid rumors, fake, false, untrue…lol
I don’t know exactly how it happened but I think I lost a straw draw and ended up in 2 suits one being a Dog and the other being a Crow. The dog suit was fine but the Crow suit definitely needs some improvement especially being able to breath air. I did contemplate a few crow calls Graham Kennedy style but I was more concerned about being “throw stone the crow†by Fullonphil or Keeling over by fainting so I did my civic duties.
I would like to add a big thank you to Fullonphil-Proformance Phyrotechnics, Team Crackers – Southern Cross Fireworks, and their helpers for an outstanding fireworks show.
The Farmers 5 and the Rivcache Committee did something that was only talked about and put together a huge Mega event that demonstrated to the rest of the Geocaching world that in Australia we do it right the first time, and the best thing is I can say I was there.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the “If we take every cacher who attended overall total caches found I wonder what the total would be, total km driven since 2000, log books used, pens lost, batteries used, coffee drunk, GPS units lost, but I am sure there is someone out there who could work it out†Coffee Clan.

We arrived on Thursday afternoon and left on Tuesday morning. It was great to finally get to this long-anticipated event (I was actually coming to it last April until somebody put me straight!) and to see Wagga Wagga for the first time. Your organisation of the event was fantastic, and there were many highlights for us. We were impressed by the catering arrangements and thankful for the hard work that the volunteers put in.
It was also great to get together with our Victorian friends, and to meet lots of cachers from other States. Mrs Squalid enjoyed finally being able to put faces to the names of pathtaggers she had long been trading with. And, we even got to do some caching as well....thanks for a wonderful Mega event.

Thank you to Riverina Geocaching committee for organising a well done Mega event, also to the sponsors for their contribution and to the people of Wagga Wagga to put up with all these people looking for tupperware containers in their district and to all fellow geocachers to make this event the BEST. Thanks for a great weekend, bring on the next one!!!! Redbackspider

It was an absolute privilege to be part of the committee for this event. Having just got home from helping pack up I have to say I am feeling just a little tired, it was VERY refreshing to read some of these logs and clearly evident that people enjoyed our event. While a lot of these logs thank the committee for the event I would like to thank two special groups for making the whole thing possible: Our Volunteers, They freely gave of their time, effort, and enthusiasm and in some cases even their fuel and vehicles to make this whole show happen. Without hesitation the volunteers would jump to assistance at any time of the day. Special thanks to Tuena for running into town a couple of times when needed urgently. Our sponsors, the contributions to our event by the sponsors and community has been amazing (Most of our sponsors were non-cachers and having no knowledge of our sport were also happy to help.) I shudder to think what the registration fee would have cost everyone if our sponsors didn’t make it all happen. I would like to share a little story about two of our younger volunteers, Friday morning two young fellas rode out to the site early in the morning many miles on their bicycles, These two scouts stayed on the gate all day helping direct people coming to the site and handing out maps, These two young scouts were polite and courteous the whole time they never wanted to have a break. They wouldn’t even stop to have a drink or lunch without serious persuasion! It was people like this that made this event happen. It was hot they had next to no shade and yet they never complained all day. They were even keen to learn about Geocaching. Last but not least the fireworks were SUPER cool and I couldn’t think of a better way to have spent this Easter. Oh by the way about the dust, thats just all part of the Wagga experience and we wouldn't have it any other way! Cheers!

We are in complete agreement with those more elequent geocachers who have expressed their delight at the way the Mega Event was organized and ran over the three days. Such a professionally run event with so much to offer definately wasnt what we had expected - we feel that we should have been paying more than a mere $30 for such a great experience. The only thing we would have changed was of our own doing - we should have stayed at the campsite instead of opting to use a caravan park in town, it had originally been our intention but once I found that we couldnt stay prior to or after the event I thought it best to get a caravan site and stay put. It was sooooo hard to tear ourselves away to go back to the van. Next time..... We travelled close to 4000klms from Geraldton Western Australia towing our van to attend the event - by the time we had deviated for a few days here and there we had clocked up just under 6000klms in 28 days. Its been time and money well spent and we would urge other West Australians to attend when Wagga puts on the next event!! You will put on another please.. Congratulations everyone and thanks.

Wow, from what we saw, it was well organised and well run. Brilliantly done Rivcache crew, kudos to you all. We didn't stay on site but actually in Leeton so were doing a large number of kilometers just to turn up an do some caches and the competitions. Was it worth it. You betcha. Really enjoyed the pieces of 8 challenge the main street challenge and the meet and greet challenge. Well thought out an lots of effort. Didn't really get to do many of the Megapoly competition as time was against us but we enjoyed what we did. Would love to do another, it was all just so good. Only 10 years for Australia's first Mega Event to come to being, hopefully we won't have to wait that long again. Cheers growingupisoptional

The most awesomest time ever. Ever. Highlights - catching up with old friends and new, meeting all my facebook geocaching friends for real. Schnapps the Schnauzer is now trackable. LSAKZ8. State of Confusion - were we South Australians or Tasmanians? Tasmanian contingent needed the numbers most! WAGGA WAS THE PLACE TO BE. But where next? SA? Ballarat? WELL DONE TO ALL THAT HELPED IN THE SET UP AND RUNNING OF THIS 1ST OZ MEGA EVENT HELD AT WAGGA WAGGA. Had a very enjoyable time in a very lovely area of NSW on the Riverina. You all should feel so proud of the effort that has gone into this event. Meet alot of great fellow Cachers from all over the place. Caught some that I know and meet some new Cachers as well. Enjoyed the activites that went with the games. Great parks and gardens to visit. Great entertainment as well. Thanks for all the work that has been done to make this the Greatest Event.

My congratulations to all of those who organised this great event. It was very well run and thoughfully put together, I'm sure everyone enjoyed it immensley, I know we did. Thanks very much. When the next Oz Mega is held we will surely be there.

Maybe something for the organizers of the next mega event to think about is the geo-crushing that occurs between the nearest road and a geocache. I guess with 700+ people finding the same geocache in the space of 4 days its unavoidable. It did however make it easier to find several caches in town. Mother nature will have to do her thing as usual to cover our tracks. Edit: In response to an email i received from a fellow cacher, i wanted to say that this was intended to be a joke after noticing there was a 'needs maintenance' for an event. TFTC- we had a ball and can't wait for the next event. It was all so well done, and we were busy all the time. The food was great. We met lots of great friendly people, it's rare to get together with that many people who all have the same agenda and just want to have fun. We couldn't make the event a milestone cache but on the drive home we managed to find our 100th (after starting the drive down with 65) so we are pretty happy with that. Roll on 2012 and the next MEGA somewhere. Thankyou so much Wagga Wagga.

Our first Mega Event and what a weekend it was. From the games, to the entertainment, to the catering, to the friends we have made. I think the facilities and the weather were perfect. You could not wish for a better fours days of fun. A huge, huge thank you to all of the organizers for all of your efforts. Really loved the bush band and dance, very Australian. I thought you catered really well for the children. Cannot wait for the next event. TFTE. KeMS

Congratulations to all of the committee who have definitely set the bar very high for future Oz Mega Events. It was quite relaxing to catch up with familiar teams and to meet new teams who until now were only names on logs. Choosing whether to socialise or go for the numbers was probably the hardest decision that I had to make over the weekend. Thanks also to the City of Wagga Wagga for its contribution to the success of the event. I am pleased to be able to say that I was a part of it.

This was so much bigger and better than I had expected. I wasn't around long, really just passed through, showed up Sunday mid arvo and left again mid morning Monday. I set up the van at nearby Oura Beach.
I'm disappointed to have missed the fireworks Saturday, but thoroughly enjoyed Sunday nights entertainment.
Found a few caches in the company of new friends and old.
I look forward to the next mega, where I will definitely stay on site, rather than off by myself, and plan to take in the whole event, not just a corner of it.
Thanks

There's something about Events that as a Geocacher I love [^] I'm so pleased to say that the Oz Mega Easter Weekend was not only my first Mega Event but the times shared with my friends is something I will always treasure.I feel so proud to call South Australia home but it was just amazing to finally meet so many of my long distance buddys A MEGA thankyou to ALL the BEHIND the scenes people who very rarely get the recognition they deserve ~ It really was great to catch up with you all around the campfire late at night and I hope you know how appreciated you are [^] Although I decided not to compete in the competition I would like to thank all the Riverina Geocachers as I found around 150 caches over the 6 days I was in Wagga and look forward to logging all the fun I had while visiting this lovely City. The 60,000 odd thousand people of Wagga are to be congratulated on such a wonderful place ! The Botanical Gardens was a personal favourite and the people we met outside of Geocaching was a huge highlight for me coming from a township of only around 1000 people.I would also like to thank the Band who INVITED me onto stage to perform a couple of songs and I know you will continue to play Road to Gundagai (now you know the chords) and remember me with laughter and friendship as that is what Geocaching is all about for me ~ not the numbers or the popularity ~ just pure and simple friendship ! Without a doubt I rate Team Crackers as the overall winners of the MEGA Event ~ I was lucky enough to watch the display with a new friend (even though we nearly both delayed the start LOL) and will always remember what a great night was had by all ! Cracker Girl you crack me up ~ Love your Work ! There are just so many highlights, the Night Caching with Goblindust and The Blue Fox was just awesome and I so enjoyed visiting the National Art Glass Gallery as a collector of Early Australian Glassware. To those who didn't attend the NO WINE NO CHEESE parties I salute you ~ especially PA Shane LOL sshhhhh Thanks for the memories everyone and TFTMEC ~ You and SA Rock ! ( oh and some of my Mexican friends are ok I guess too) My only suggestion is that Oz Mega stickers would have been a great idea but the packs were extremely good value anyway [^]

I just want to say thanks to everyone who organised the event. I had a really great time and finally got out to meet fellow cachers.
Everything was pulled off really well, my highlights were definitely the fireworks (BEST I've ever seen) and our night up in Pomingalama Park doing the night caches (GREAT views).
With the volume of people in the area the landscape around caches may take some time to return to normal, all worth it though I suppose.
So again, thanks everyone. Dead on 400 caches too, sweet.

Friday 2.4.10 Arrived at the Illawarra Caching Community's designated assembly point at 8:30am to find TEAM CASHO already there. I had left home about 4am with the camper in tow and had a bliss run with a pit stop at Yass. The rest of the crew arrived over the next 40 minutes, and after a roadside chat - and a warning from our friendly highway patrol to get further off the road, we headed down the road in convoy to the OZ MEGA WAGGA WAGGA site at Camp Kurrajong, home for the Easter Weekend. After setting up camp in the back corner of the expansive and well laid out and set up camp ground, the serious business began - registration, socialising and CACHING! Old faces, new faces, interesting meetings - "I thought you were a girl", people we had known only by their caching name and online exploits, friends we hadn't yet met. Saturday 3.4.10 Caching in the morning after sleeping in much later than planned, all the time having to remember that the rest of the team were arriving by train and that I HAD to be there and not keep them waiting - made it but only just! They had the right idea, walking in to an already set-up camper. More socialising and the night's entertainment. Sunday 4.4.10 Another unplanned sleep-in, despite the kids enthusiasm for easter. Ready for the morning's activities, with the entertainment of the easter egg "hunt", then the helicopter drop - an awesome spectacle to say the least. Back to our camp for a late breakfast/early lunch, then caching. The kids were excited that they could talk about caching, no "apple trees" - our code for a cache - today, stealth not beaing a major issue in the midst of that many fellow geocaching enthusiasts. More meeting new old friends and putting faces to caching names. More entertainment. Monday 5.4.10 Already - where did the weekend go? Clean-up, then pack-up. Last to leave from our small group as we had the shortest distance to go, having decided to stay on for the rest of the week in Wagga Wagga. OZ MEGA WAGGA WAGGA - simply amazing. Thanks to the organising committee for all their hard work, which was evident every which way you turned.

Well, what a fantastic event - where do I start. We just loved the whole experience. We met heaps of cachers, some of whom we knew, some not. The whole atmosphere was terrific. The mix & mingle competition was a great idea and really helped break the ice. We didn't do the the whole Megopoly thing, but we did do he chance game with a group of other cachers including the solomon family which are caching neighbours back in Melbourne. The kid friendly atmosphere was also terrific and ourm geokids loved the Easter egg hunt, the mega drop and the hot air balloon in particular. We all loved the nightly entertainment and the fireworks were spectacular. Special thanks to Team Crackers. The caching experience around Wagga Wagga was also brilliant. Just about where ever we went to find a cache, we found other geocachers making the caching experience quite different from the norm. Some Wagga caches I'd failed to find on a previous visit due to muggle activity, were this time surrounded by geocachers creating mini-events wherever we went. In many places the locals were aware of the activity and pointed the way to the cache. It was an experience we will remember for a long time. Well done to the organising committee - you did a brilliant job.

As everyone has said before, we would like to offer thanks to all involved in the organisation of the Oz Mega Event. We visited some of the event sponsors on our travels around Wagga and made some purchases with them along the way to show our appreciation of their support of our hobby. We had a great time and meet many people, some we knew, some we had only heard of and some we hadn't. Its amazing to see the diverse spread in the different types of people and the different walks of life that cachers come from. Well done again and many thanks to the organisers, sponsors, all the teams that attended especially Team Crackers for the fabulous fireworks display.

We had a great time (despite one of us winding up in hospital). It was a tremendously brave move for the organisers to put their hands up and do this. Are you physically and mentally exhausted? [^] It was the right move for us to camp on site and the kids loved the continuous party. The eldest SamWalker boy came over sick on Sunday. We invited the St Johns over to see him and they were delighted to come. About lunch his vomiting had become so bad that they advised us to take him into the hospital where he was admitted overnight. The next morning they sent him into surgery for appendicitis. He is doing fine now and we took him home a day late. Stitches didn't stop him from making a find on the way home. Is there a GCA cache to claim for this one?

Three things that the organizing committee must have been having nightmares about.
-150mm of rain Friday evening.
-500 travellers left on the travel bug table.
-PG06 with a microphone in her hand.
Two out three is not too bad.
Freddo did a lot of gonzo full-on obsessed mental caching. Day and Night for three way to short days. Sometimes he gave the log to next cacher. Sometimes he just ran up and stamped his mark. We had a ball.
What's not to say. Well done on a fantastic weekend. Organisers, volunteers and cachers. Love your work. Same time next year?

Two years ago when we visited Wagga for a week and ended up staying three, we heard notional plans about a "mega" event. We figured that by then we would be in Western Australia and it would be too far to travel back. However, when the surge towards Wagga occurred and the faithful were called the pull was too hard for us to stay away. We thank Skippy for his help in transporting us to Wagga from Adelaide and providing us with his tent, we also thank GEOTRECAZ for being Powerhouse Central in regards to charging up devices etc and hosting the odd social evening (nice fairy lights Trev). Our BIG THANKS however must go to the committee for the amazing work they did to turn out such an event. The weather was perfect and the entertainment great. Team Crackers the fireworks were amazing. For us the joy of meeting up with people we have met from all over Australia while we have been doing our slow travel had an almost surreal feel. It allowed us to remember the special times we have had when we were in their part of the Australia. Meeting new teams and the American caching teams was good fun too as was the pathtag trading. To the Gregs' and everyone else involved in donating their time and energy please accept our BIG THANKS, it will be an event always remembered. And because we did so much talking and not so much caching we will have to return again in the next couple of years to clean up some of the caches we didn't get to this time.

As one of the few teams from Western Australia, I am glad to say that the Oz Mega Event was well worth the trip. The organizers have done an amazing job, the food was great, the prizes well liked by all who won them and the entertainment outstanding. I think the best thing about the Mega Event for me though, was doing the extra caching and running into teams on the caching trail...and knowing what they were up to. I did educate a few muggles along the way and I'm sure other caching teams did as well. Thank you so much for the great event!
I must be sure to grab my 3 coins that I logged into the event, the other I am hoping will find it's way to the US with Jellyfish.

It's finally arrived!! Lots of campers, cachers, 4WD's, coins & people. So many things to do, so little time. Lots of people to meet and find out their stories. We managed to complete a couple of the competitions available for the weekend activities. The Ozmegopoly sent us on a fabulous tour of attractions in and around Wagga. The Botanical Gardens are a credit to this City and we will be bringing more of the family back here to enjoy all the activities here. The fireworks on Saturday were awesome - thanks Team Crackers. As we were camped at the site with our Cub Camper, we had quite a few people visit our site and ask about our camper and set up. Everyone was friendly and it was great to see so many families enjoying the outdoors lifestyle that caching engenders. A big thankyou to Riverina Geocaching for arranging this very successful event - it was extremely well organised with plenty of interesting competitions and activities - even the perfect weather~!~ As we have been involved in caching for only six months, we were not sure to expect from an event such as this. We have come away with new friends, new ideas for cache hides, and have been able to put faces to some of those names on cache logs. We also have a swag of new coins and TB's to send on their way around Australia. Thanks again and we look forward to meeting some of you on the caching trail. Wow what a great time was had at my first Mega Event cache! I got to meet some lovely people from all over Oz and USA. As well as a lot of the local cachers in my area Bendigo Vic that also attended, nice to catch up for a chat. Then I got 14th in the monopoly challenge. Walking to the stage was fun and a cute prize bag contained a hat, flask and money tin. The family enjoyed the pirates chest, that was so well put together, but the local globe spiders had us girls screaming! We had tea with team Crazy Creels at the Mexican and it was good to get to know another Bendigo team too, while there had a chat to Team Rubik as well. So thanks for a great weekend worth the drive. Took a coin and Left a coin. Signed flag and tent. Thanks for the cache. Kaztrekka.

I have been looking forward to this event for over a year and sometimes the build up of your advance expectations can mean things don't live up to your dreams, but this was certainly not the case! It was so nice meeting all the names I know so well from logbooks and the GCA and pathtag forums - especially people, who have done my caches. Congratulations to Riverina Caching for the effort put into daily organisation, the program and the games! It was lovely to see the local sites - especially the Botanic Garden. Well done on obtaining such fantastic sponsorship as well. Whilst we weren't as gung ho about "real" caching as some teams, we still managed to do a respectable number of caches. Another highlight was spending the weekend with my friends, the Rocky Glen Grommets. The trading in Pathtag Central made me feel like we were on the floor of the Stock Exchange at times, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything! A MEGA thank you for this MEGA event. This is cache #666 for me - oooh spooky.

Well done on some great organisation for this weekend. Fireworks were tops!!!

The event was a holiday for us – I had taken 2 weeks leave from work and we travelled up from Melbourne over 2 days stopping in a caravan park near Wadonga on the first night – we are not as fast as most and need to stop usually each hour or so and for us a quick drive by is 20min! After arriving in Wagga Wagga at lunch time we checked into our caravan park at Horseshoe bend – sadly there were no other caches that we know of booked there – the park was picked as it was meant to be the closest to site... anyway off to the event we went.
From the moment we arrived onsite we had a warm feeling about how the weekend was going to progress. Parking marshals had us all in order; and onto Registration which was faultless. And right from the beginning we entered into warm conversations with other cachers that we had never met before but we all shared a common interest.
Following an exploration of site we were off into town to start the Megaopoly, at every stop and almost every GC cache we met others and entered into friendly conversation with them.
Later that evening after we returned to site for the bonfire – 5yo geoprince is not usually allowed up that late and I wondered how he would go – but he too continued to make friends and our thanks to the cachers that gave him a glow stick (he carried it around for the rest of the holiday).
On Saturday after the opening addresses we ran into some of our local cachers and had a great time chatting and catching up – more Megaopoly and local caches were done before we returned to site for dinner, entertainment more cachers met the great fireworks spectacular. Again geoprince was well behaved.
On Sunday we deliberately timed our site arrival for after the easter egg hunt and before the helicopter drop – our thanks again to another cacher that gave us a foam square which geoprince then discovered under a nearby car. Out again for more caching before my queen arrived with geoprince#2 – they could not attend the first couple of days but came up from Melbourne on the train. After a rest and a few more caches and chance we return for the evening.
We were delighted to win a couple of prizes, 500th to log “will attend†and Meaopoly 6th place draw. In our 15 seconds of fame on stage I thanked the organising team for a fantastic event, the Australian reviewers and also Caughtatwork / CraigRat / those responisable for maintaining our web site all of which contribute to our game. We had played Megaopoly in the same way we do many of our caches – with the help and support of other cachers – our thanks to all those that helped us along the way and I know we that many others appreciated our help too.
Monday CITO event was over pretty quickly for us as we tried to work out how best to help – I also got interviewed by Spindocbob for Geotalk.
Our thanks again to the Organising team for the great event. Our thanks too for the local cachers and a big thanks to the warmth and friendship in conversation throughout the event.
We contributed to the geocoin / TB display and took a few home with us too.
Back to Melbourne ! well not straight away, the Solomonfamily proceeded west, Jnr’s spent a few days in Mildura and back via the Calder; while the Snr’s attempted Mungo NP before returning via Echuca and also more caches. Along the way we met with other cachers returning home – it was great sharing our experiences.
In total the Solomonfamily did about 70 caches on this trip – this is for us about 7-8months worth of caching done in a week!.
The Solomonfamily team consists of 6 primary members, with Dad (King Solomon Snr) and I (King Solomon Jnr) the most enthusiastic - but often joined by our sometime reluctant respective queens and my 2 geoprinces (5yo and 1yo).

Well what a great weekend, Started our drive from Bendigo on Thursday, camped the night just 20 meters from Lake Mulwalas shores, set out on the frosty morning into NSW found a few caches along the way and before we knew it, we where in Wagga! After setting up the caravan at our caravan park, we headed out to the camp to register, had fun finding other aces for the mix n mingle game. Loved the fireworks by Team Crackers on Saturday, have never seen such good fireworks. Sunday was also good, got some new Geocoins one now heading for America, and we went out for tea with our new friends the Crazy Creels. This event definitely lived up to it's name. The entire committee needs to give themselves a big pat on the back for putting together such a well organized, memorable event. Although fullonphil and our activities were severely curtailed on Friday and Saturday because of the fireworks we really enjoyed caching up with old friends and putting faces to names of teams we had not yet met. It's always great to have a drink with our friends from across the border. and as is always the case around a bonfire, stories were exchanged but instead of them being of mystery and wonder they were of caching exploits and misadventures. The Monopoly challenge bought back memories of the Geelong cache-o-poly and cracker girl being incarcerated (in a gazebo) until she could roll double numbers. Thankfully this wasn't the case this time and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the sights of Wagga Wagga. Congratulations to all the winners, milestone achievers and drinking companions! We would once again like to thank the committee for working tirelessly to put on such a great event. We would personally like to thank fullonphil, dicko, Luke (Coffee) and Steph (Little Miss Muggle) for all their efforts with the fireworks, without their help the show would not have been half of what it was. (If we were paying Luke for the miles he covered we may have needed to mortgage a small European country!!) and last but not least thanks for every one making the effort to come along

WOW. What a wonderful Event! So many 'thank you's'. First to Greg and his committee for picking up the ball and running with it so well, you should be very, very proud. Team Crackers and all your friends, what a tremendous display, a sponsorship really appreciated. All the sponsors are appreciated for what they added to the Event. Entertainers, you gave us so much; may we pick out specially the rendition with visuals of "We are Australians". Hospital Auxiliary, thank you for the meals, Mrs specially enjoyed not having to think about/do meals. Daily Adertiser, thank you for the souvenir. By no means least, all cachers, known and not known before, you are such a friendly, inclusive lot and made the Event what it was. A special mention for the competitions, so well put together and full of interest. Our personal favourite was the pirate treasure trail. And a couple of things us oldies noticed. Children of all ages not only there but participating, not only that but so well behaved; we didn't hear crying or fighting or "I'm bored" all weekend, such a joy these days (crusty old b...!)! And so often these days where the public gather in numbers, garbage left behind, but not here, CITO hardly needed (or was it just that these terrific kids started early?).

And so it ends! Jen and I attended the event, met old friends, made a few new ones, found a few caches and generally enjoyed ourselves. Congratulations to the organisers. It all went off well, with, as far as I could see, few problems. Dropped a few TB's or should I say I passed them on, to Dark and Stormy and it happens so they will be logging them soon I expect. Thanks very much to all.

Congratulations to the Riverina Geocaching committee for such a superb event. The careful thought and many thousands of hours of work you put into it were obvious, and greatly appreciated by us all. The activities were very well thought out, and I really appreciated having a lot of time not only to run around like a maniac caching, but to meet and catch up with people and enjoy Wagga Wagga and surrounds. It's a very beautiful place (especially the parks and gardens) so we'll have to be back soon. Thanks also to the sponsors, you were an important part of making this first Aussie mega-event very special. Thanks especially to the caterers, you did a grand (and difficult!) job. See you in two years' time? Mega-event number 3

TNLNSL TFTC (hey...somebody had to do it! ) Seriously...the benchmark has been set...I don't think it will ever get beaten! Q: What has about 2500 cylinders and goes through 5,000 litres per 100km? A: A Mega Event scavenger hunt! I noted that I used as much petrol doing the Oz Megopoly as I did driving from Melbourne To Wagga!!! So...these Mega events are annual hey?!?! we'll be back!!!

Ok That really was MEGA. Great town, Great site, Great commitee, Great people. Got a real buzz out of being able to put faces to all the cacher names I see so often. Everyone I met was so friendly. So many familys involved in this caper makes it special. The secret society aint that secret I reckon with that many cachers about. Thanks to all involved for a fantastic event.

Attended from Friday the 2nd of April 3.40pm to Monday 5th of April 7.00am. For selfish reasons we have been looking forward to this event for months, so that we could be reunited with our many Victorian friends and our New South Wales and interstate pprass Family Coin friends as well. We were also looking forward in anticipation to see what the Riverina committee had created and we were astonished at how every detail had been planned and how calmly (from our point of view) the committee and their helpers performed their duties - BRAVO. With the assistance of the generosity of the sponsors our measly $30.00 registration fee certainly went a very very long way, so thanks to all concerned we are truly appreciative. The entertainment helped provide a great atmosphere in the evenings and the Crackers fireworks never fail to delight The music was very professional and we even liked some of the country bits! So thanks to Wagga Wagga for your hospitality and for showing us your great city. We had a marvelous time!

Yes we are proud to say 'We Attended' Australia's 1st Mega Event and what a well organised & run event this has been..[^] From a quick & painless initial registration AM Friday the weekend has seemed to run flawlessley... While there where possibly a few issue behind the scenes any impact on attendees to the event was minimised by the tireless efforts of the organising committee & the support team of volunteers. A great big "Thank You" should be extended to all of these people as well as a thank you to all the organisation who provided support in the form of sponsorship etc for without these organisations we would not have received the truly excellent value we all received for our $30 registration.... Registration packs Entertainment Prizes for competitions etc Easter Eggs for all the geocachers of minority age A chance top catch up with friends (old & new) and mingle with so many like minded people (in what is typically a relatively solitary activity) This would have to be one of the best value for money events we have ever attended So as the dust settles over the area & cachers disperse to all corners of the globe THANK YOU once again to the organisers & Sponsors for a truly memorable experience

Well what could i say that everyone hasn't already said? I was very impressed with the amount of organisation that went into the camp. I was super happy with dogs being allowed to attend and I thought that everyone was a delight to camp next to. No hassles at all. As i am logging this fairly late at night I will keep it brief. But thanks for all the trouble you went to. It was a great weekend. Cheers.

How does one start to compliment such an action packed, fun filled weekend? first of all, the effort that has gone into organising such a MEGA event can never be summed up in so short a space. To the Riverina Geocaching committee, you guys have set an enormous benchmark which I daresay everyone from here on in will set their standards by. I for one, am humbled by how well this event has been organised and ran. The competitions were astellar!! To the sponsors, thank you for your contributions, without them, such an event would be impossible. To my fellow Geocachers, thankyou for a lovely weekend. We met some wonderful people and have made some firm friends. I look forward to the next Mega in Oz and hope it can be as good as this one. TFTC and had a great time Youdfindus

Well what can we say that hasn't already been said about 500 times! This was a fantastic event. The organisation was spectacular, the event games well organised and interesting, the value for money second to none. We met so many people and didn't meet so many others which is a testament to how many people were actually there! The camping facilities were wonderful, and we were glad we stayed on site in the thick of all the action. We felt very welcome in Wagga, found many great caches, and saw many great sights. Before the event we had 260 pathtags in our collection. We now have 354, and enjoyed the trading frenzy. The pathtag trading was a surefire way to meet new people. It was obvious how much hard work the committee put into this event and their efforts in securing so many great sponsors meant we came away with wonderful memories for such a measly sum of money. It was great to see so many people from so many walks of life come together and and socialise, and see so many families having fun together and so many wonderfully well behaved children. Geocachers are a special lot! The fireworks were definitely a highlight and we thank Team Crackers for putting on a great show. The helicopter drop was so impressive that we were too busy filming/photographing it to try and catch any of the sponges! Loved the pirate wide game, and enjoyed the Megaopoly, even if we did only manage to complete about half of it. Again, a big congratulations to the organisers and all the participants. It was great to be a part of it.

Am very pleased I attended this historic event, both as a participant & as a volunteer. Greg & his committee were wonderful to work for & I congratulate them for their incredible efforts in organizing this great event. Why you even had control of the weather! As I type this it is cold, dark & raining heavily in Berry so perhaps you could use your powers to bring out the Sun. Team Crackers, fullonphill and their assistants put on a fire works display that all were in awe of. I met many new people & put faces to cachers. Thanks in particular to John & Maree of bbayjohn for tracking me down - it was a pleasure to meet you. The costs were kept to a minimum & for this my appreciation is extended to the many sponsors of this Mega event. The committee have set a benchmark that will be hard to beat but at the same time will make it that much easier for those who organize the next Mega Event. See you then.

Wow - we had so much fun. We are loggin this as number 100 - we have been caching for 3 weeks and are thoroughly enjoying it. Met sooo many pepole and even got a second prize in the community chest comp. Hi to all the people we met both at the event and at caches. Can't waqit for the next one (we may even haqve 500 by then). Till then, keep on Caching.

A great excuse for us to get ourselves back into the caching community again after having been dormant for the last 12-24 months with other committments - not least of which is the addition of our Geobub Callum to the team and this was really his first event to take part in. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves over the weekend catching up with all of our friends we have met over the years and meeting new faces mostly through my parents - Maccamob... Thanks to the organising committee for all the work you have no doubt put into the weekend.

There came some cachers to Wagga Town to the meeting of the clans Receivers, tags, coins and swaps were all clutched in their hands. The event and details were planned to a T with toilets near and far, Judging by the clink of glass many camps also had bar. The days were spent in earnest search of micros through to large Some were pretty easy some were very hard. The lovers of caching were there engrossed in the tasks at hand Entertainment included Fireworks, puzzles and a band. Maccamob, Liz and Bruce and Everlasting – the royalty had all showed Camper trailers and caravans from near and far had been towed Good cheer and much merriment as stories were swapped and told By the quiet, the meek, the loud, the boisterous and the bold. In the end everyone was a winner, for the experience was just great It was something very special, for the next one we can’t wait. So thanks to the committee, the sponsors and the chefs We hope that after CITO no trace of us was left.

What more can one say? Those before me seem to have covered everything!!! What an awesome weekend. The Committee and their band of helpers are to be congratulated for setting the benchmark on any further Mega Events. From the location, the games, the facilities, the catering (the Hospital Aux did a tremendous job), the organisation, the countless hours that have been devoted to putting his whole thing together. No stone was left unturned in having thought of everything. The Camp looked fabulous. Great to meet up with some familiar team names, that had been faceless till now, good to catch up with the familiar ones too. And fabulous to score a few numbers to boot over the weekend. Very impressed on our arrival into town with the WW welcomes OzMega Geocachers. And the weekend continued on with more and more great impressions. Thanks again, for making our first Mega Event such a memorable and enjoyable one. We are thrilled to have been lucky enough to be a part of it.

Our first ever Mega Event. A fantastic effort by all who those who must have spent countless hours organising it all. Give yourselves a HUGE pat on the back. We wondered on our way home if there is any Wagga Wagga muggles left or are they all in the know now?? Also judging by the amount of bug guts all over the front of the Geomobile, we feel we've done our part in helping to reduce your locust population. Again thanks so much for a fantastic weekend, it was our pleasure being a part of it. SL. TOOK AWAY GREAT MEMORIES. TFTC. ~ Crazy Creels.

Well what can I say that has not been said by literally hundreds of people before me?!
What an amazing weekend! We camped onsite from Friday morning until Monday just before lunch.
From the moment we drove into town and saw the Welcome Sign this was just awesome! I had high expectations for the weekend, and every single one of them was met and beaten. Every detail seemed to be looked after, the amount of work that the Committee, and their volunteers, must have put into organising this is mind boggling. You should all be congratulated from the very bottom of every cacher's heart! I should be extremely proud of yourselves!
I enjoyed meeting people who were previously just names in logs and posts on forums. I loved catching up with old friends. I loved the entire atmosphere and vibe of the event! One of the things that truly blew me away was how quiet it was. Peaceful. We were camped on site, and yet we could have been, at any moment, a million miles from anyone.
One thing that I am not sure that others have touched on is the suitability of the site. Large, well marked, camping sites. No toilet queues. No shower queues! Hot water!!! All of these things combine to make the experience that little bit more enjoyable.
And how green was it! I remember being in town for the Wagga Invasion just under two years ago, and the place was no where near as green as it was over the weekend.
Oh, did I mention how refreshing and enjoyable it was to actually be able to go camping with our Dog! So often Man's Best Friend is neglected in camping I know that if he could Dingo would say thank you too! Maybe you will all have to settle for a tail wag and a hug?!
I know it is not a massive milestone, but I am logging this as #2,050. At least it will always show in my Milestones List!
To summise, what a MEGA Event! Roll on the next Australian Mega!!!!! We will be there for sure.
Thanks! Hoojar

Extraordinary. Outstanding. Unforgettable.
I am just SOOOOO glad I attended this event. From very early on with the great promotion and very profesional registration process it was clear this was one well thought out and organised event. This was borne out through the entire event and all of this made it such a relaxing, uplifting and enriching event to be a part of.
Organisers, volunteers, sponsors.....you ALL deserve ALL the accolades that have been heaped upon you. You have produced and contributed to a truly outstanding event that will be remembered fondly by so many people. I trust you are enjoying a well earned rest! Thanks also to the people of Wagga Wagga for tolerating with such good humour the rather "unusual" antics of our particular sport/recreation/obsession.
And to everyone who attended....thank you.....for your camaraderie, goodwill and the numbers that gave us that MEGA icon!!
Happy caching to all. Cheers, svn07

Late but no less highly appreciative of the huge effort the organising committe obviously put into making this the great event it was. The games were well thought out and took us all over the town and district. I particularly liked effort put into the pirate caching trail, to actually have a shipwreck at 'shipwreck' shows how much thought effort went into your organisation. Thanks to crackers, for the magnificent dislpay on Saturday and thanks to the hospital ladies and volounteers who looked after us. All`in all - a top effort. Thanks and cheers to all.

I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have had the opportunity to travel from Texas to Australia and attend the Oz Mega Wagga Wagga event. I have been to large events, but never to a Mega event so I was amazed at how smoothly everything appeared to work at this event.
My nutshell review: For me, NO Mega Event will ever be able to top this one!!
Thank you to the event hosts for the most wonderful opportunity I have ever had to meet geocachers from down under! My trip to Australia was COMPLETELY changed by this event! The games and happenings were so well designed that I had an optimal opportunity to meet other geocachers, cache with them and build friendships. Oh and it didn't hurt there were geocaches to find!
Thank you volunteers and auxillary, I never sensed the exhaustion you all must have been experiencing by the end of the weekend. You all served with a smile and such grace!
Thank you Team Crackers et al for the most amazing fireworks show I have ever seen in my life... What everyone is repeating is by no means an exaggeration.
Thank you to the bands and performers at each gathering, I really enjoyed hearing live local talent!
Thank you Oz/Tazmanian/NZ geocachers for making this Texas-born gal feel right at home in a foreign land. I really was taken by surprise at the kindness you all showed me. I made some pretty special friendships and learned SO MUCH about Australia through all of you and your caches. Thanks also to my fellow Americans, Starfire and Jellyfish for including me in several of their doings, its a shame I had to travel 25000 miles to meet you both.
As I was leaving to go to the next stop of my trip, I really was saddened to be departing all the new friends I made. I hope that I stay in touch with them all! And by all means PLEASE contact me if you plan to come to Texas!
I will never forget this event, NEVER.

Well, well, well, what a wonderful time we had from start to finish. We have been looking forward to this event for over 18 months when I first heard about it on the forums. We set out from Adelaide on the Wednesday morning staying in Homebush at the Homebush hotel (just north of Balranald) over night and Oh! What a night it was! Well worth a visit if your passing by. We arrived in Wagga on Thursday afternoon booked into the Wagga Beach Caravan Park and then headed into the shops to get more supplies. We arrived back to the wonderful surprise of many caching neighbors including maccamob & Family, SA Parrot Head (Mr. and Mrs.), SA Mystery inc. and boys, Ms. Burton, Postiegirl and quite few others. Some stayed just for the evening and others for the whole weekend. After a lovely Spa and relaxing sleep we headed off first thing in the morning to camp Kurrajong, Well what a great site and well organized set up. Great directions from the Scouts and a great reception from the committee, who were willing to help, assist and answer any questions put to them. After registration we digested our packs and the games. Then of to do some of the meet and greet game and mingle with many of the cachers now well and truly set up and ready for action. Around lunch time we sat down in the park under a tree and had lunch with Squalid (Dave & Judy) before heading off together to do the Chance Pirate game. What a hoot! We found the treasure, quickly wrote down the answers before heading out to start a little of the Megopoly and do a few local caches. After dinner we headed back to the camp and then quickly turned around and followed a convoy of 4wd’s in our VW out to do the night caches. Another great night more smiles, more laughs and more fun. Back to camp a few drinks then back home to bed. Saturday dawned the day to complete the Megopoly and Chance games, well we thought anyway. We spent most of the day completing the games and finding a few local caches along the way aiming to be back at the camp for the group photo and a lovely BBQ before the evening’s entertainment. Great evening loved the Fireworks, special thanks to Team Crackers, Fullonphil and their helpers. The rest of the evening seemed to involve plenty of interesting entertainment, it seems more for some than others, but you had better ask those in the know and that would count me out Sunday morning was the Easter drop although we turned up a little late, so a little socializing before heading off to finish the games. All done by 4pm showered and fed then back to camp to hand in our entries and await a great night of presentation and festivities. Woo Hoo!! The Hunta picked up a prize in the process. A few drinks were had and some more entertainment before heading home to pack up at the cabin. Monday morning we headed back to camp to lend a hand and help out with the clean up before heading off on our slight detour home via the Great Ocean Road. What a fantastic weekend and I can’t thank everyone enough, especially the committee, sponsors, helpers, Wagga’s folks and all the cachers who travelled from near and far. Highlights of the weekend had to be: The Fireworks, South Australian caching community’s close knit bond and support for each other and finally PG on stage, bound for either Gundagai, South Australia or Stardom, probably all three. Disappointment and biggest complaint of the weekend had to be: The event having to conclude Thanks again to everyone involved, let’s do it again soon!!!!!

First of all, a big THANK YOU to Riverina Geocaching for organising the first Oz Mega Event. The many, many hours of work over many months by the committee produced an event that exceeded our expectations. There were so many highlights such as the warm welcome we received on first visiting the registration hall and the subsequent surprises that awaited us in our participant’s bag of goodies. The clever “Meet & Greet†game had everybody talking for the whole time the event was on and it was a great way to get to know other cachers. We were even lucky enough to get to win a great prize! Then there was the well planned Oz Mega Monopoly game that had us searching Wagga Wagga city and surrounding district for clues. It also gave us the opportunity to grab some local GC caches as we passed by on our travels. The Chance & Community Chest games had us searching footpath plaques that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. The main street always seemed to be full of geocachers. The brilliantly planned pirate-themed multicache was full of surprises with the waypoints being cleverly named and executed giving us some laughs along the way. It was a real highlight of the weekend. Evening meals, entertainment, the bonfire and a spectacular fireworks show (thanks to Team Crackers) kept us busy during the evenings. But perhaps the greatest highlight of all was the opportunity to have a chance to catch up with so many other geocachers, and get to meet the hardworking committee members. Our final THANK YOU is for the Wagga Wagga council and the many companies that sponsored the event. Without their help and support we would not have been able to have such a remarkable time. We had an extended eight day holiday in Wagga Wagga and we loved every minute of it

What can be said that has not already been said by numerous other teams before me? A BIG thank you to all the organisers, volunteers, Team Crackers and anyone else who had a hand in putting this Mega Event together. Very well done, I pity the next group of organisers who put their hands up to arrange the next Mega Event! Another big thank you to all the Wagga locals who made all in Team Ermalesh and all the other caching teams feel very welcome in their great city, put up with us all hanging around looking inconspicuous while 'searching for lost keys' or 'tying up shoe-laces'. Also to all the teams that we met along our travels both, at and from the Mega Event, a special thanks to thewhitedoggang, Princess Consuela and the Kettles for joining us in our endeavors around Wagga during the day and night while at this very Mega Event. Thank You again from Team Ermalesh P.S. Thanks also for getting both Miss E's obsessed with Pathtags, I thought life was crazy enough with collecting cards, figurines, etc. [This entry was edited by Team Ermalesh on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 7:38:19 AM.]

A truly outstanding event that exceeded all my expectations. I headed down from Brisbane on Thursday and made my way casually from Canberra on Friday. Spent the weekend in town and headed out Monday. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time in Wagga either on the hunt, or relaxing at the event enjoying the company of fellow hunters. Nothing more need be said about the organisation of this event, the committee know full well thay they constructed a flawless event for us all to enjoy. This will be a talking point for quite some time and deservedly so... Hats off to all involved in putting this together. You deserve the highest accolades. This racks up my 1400th cache and it is an honour to align the milestone with such a superb event.

This has been a long time coming and the Parrots made holiday arrangements as soon as it was listed. No way were we going to miss the opportunity of getting an Australian Mega smiley. So on the 27th of March we set off on our 'Long way to Wagga tour'. Leaving Adelaide we headed to Mt Gambier, then along the Great Ocean Rd into Melbourne before heading up the Hume Highway. It was great to get here on the Thursday and participate in the Pathtag swap and dinner. Then on Friday we set up our Pirate parrot campsite. We had the No Wine No Cheese support vehicle close by and Goblindust and TheBlueFox from the USA set up near us with some gear I had brought over for them. We were very happy that so many teams came to visit our campsite and we certainly met a lot of other teams around the event. Mrs Parrot had a great time trading pathtags with other teams and added about 90 new ones to her collection. I had a fantastic time traveling around the town with the Honeysuckers and Someuser finding caches and the Night caching in the convoy of vehicles was a hoot. I also enjoyed catching up with caching friends along the way. My favourite activity was the Pirate hunt (Well what did you expect). Postie girl and Burtons you made me laugh you made me cry ahhh the drama. The no wine no cheese parties around the bonfires at night, Shanes attempts at being his own PA system, Postie being a rock and roll star. How could you not love the whole melting pot. The sponge ball drop from the helicopter, the Easter egg hunt, those absolutely fantastic fireworks and the group SA photo shoot. What a great time. South Australia - We were loud and we were proud.

Find# 650 3rd find of the day. Having driven 750kms from the Riverland in SA to the Riverina in NSW we finally loaded some caches onto the GPSr and got down to finding some caches whilst participating in the Oz Mega Event. Can't believe we had to stand in line at some caches to log our finds. Congratulations to all the local Wagga Wagga cachers for the quality and quantity of caches available for us interstaters to find and log. Is there anything else to say about the Oz Mega Event that hasn't been said bo others? I don't think so! The organising committee has done a fantastic job - even to the point of ordering ideal weather. Looking forward to Oz Mega 2 - whenerver and wherever that may be. Thanks for the cache Riverina Geocaching! Jardry

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away - a fantastic opportunity to catch up with some old caching friends and meet some new ones too. The geo-camper held up well, and a few more things added to the packing checklist for next time. Dipped our geomobile TB into the event for mileage. Our heartfelt thanks to the organising team for the countless hours of hard work that must have gone into making such a successful event. We are also grateful for the family focus on the proceedings, our two little ones had a great time and are still coming down from the chocolate high after the easter egg hunt! Now, when's the next one?!

Thanks soooo much to the organisers of this fantastic event, very well done, well organised and heaps of fun. We went with The Emongs but unfortunately had planned on just going for one day due to other commitments. Once we got there we realised that the 'other' commitments really should have not mattered and our only regret is that we didnt reaarange the 'other' so that we could stay for the whole thing. Oh well, you live and learn! When and where is the next one, cant wait and will be stayong for the whole thing next time for sure. Will be coming back to Wagga some time soon for some more caching. Thanks again.

Well, this certainly exceeded all my Expectations! – Some fair while ago, all I was hoping for was a “mega event†icon in my list of achievements! Then, after much information, my expectations were raised considerably! – Well, my expectations were still well and truly exceeded! The organisation was incredible – there wasn’t anything I though wasn’t well implemented! Spent 2 nights camping onsite (with BBBumblebee, MiniMatt and Jadiepoo) – the best option if you ask me! You didn’t miss a thing, and didn’t have to drive anywhere late at night! The organised activities were great, the caching during the day excellent, and meeting up with so many cachers was unbelievable! I really loved the... – Well, all of it! Thanks to the organisers!

Came along as part of the Tankengine team... Along with MiniMatt, Jadiepoo, and of course Tankengine! (MiniBeePoo in the logs)... What can I say, this was fantastic! I was here for 2 nights (almost 3 days), and I enjoyed every second! There were so many highlights, I don't know where to start! I liked the antlions that MTBO showed us, there were the fireworks, the camping was great, the bonfires were VERY hot, the new friend from Captains Flat, the pathtags, all those people, yummy food, exploring the camp, the competitions (me and candycane101 - had fun getting all the info from other peoples name tags, and wondering around finding the metal tags!). There was the caching on very bumpy roads, the collecting of pathtag numbers, the mini hotair balloon, the EASTER EGG HUNT - yummy yummy, the mega drop (thanks for the foam block MTBO - I annoyed everyone in the car on the way home with the sqeeky fluffy toy), and oh, so much more!

We had only intended on coming for the one day but had that much fun on Saturday that we came back for some more caching on the Sunday. We were staying with relatives in Cootamundra. We had a terrific time completing the Megopoly on the Saturday and the fireworks on the Saturday night were the best we have ever seen. Thank you very much to the organisers. You did an exceptional job. TFTC !!!!!!!!!!!!.

MEGA everything. From start to close. Friday lunchtime registration was so quiet - like the lull before the storm, only it was a friendly breeze that carried this butterfly through this MEGA event. We got a head start on the MEGopoly, when the retail area was closed. A bit more touring on both Saturday and Sunday saw us visit every one of the 40 sites, even taking the wee car up that hill! It made it - a small hill by NZ standards, and a small car. We knew there would be a 4WD with cachers on board arriving should we not make it, so we braved all the trips. Sharing your region with this game was a great way to get us about - I will be returning to some spots - the wee trains were running today, a bonus! Loved the "Chance" wide game, and the final cryptic treasure found. Pity time did not allow us to complete the Community Chest. Thanks for the opportunity to meet a few other geocoiners, and some trades made. BIG, BIG thanks to the Riverina Caching committee, the volunteers, the caterers, the other attendees, and MY NUT - RadioNut50 - who all made this trip of 2,500 km plus the road trip from Melbourne over 10 days worthwhile. You've set such a hard task for any that follow!

We are proud to say we attended. Having assisted the committee members over the past few days and seeing a bit more of the great effort and untiring selflesness that these wonderful people have put into the lead up to the event over the last 14 months or so and their continuing work over the weekend, they now need a break. No doubt there will be things to finalise over the next few days and weeks but a big pat on the back for a wonderful event. You have set a bench mark for Mega events in Australia and this one will be remembered because it was the first. Take a break and rest assured that your efforts have been seen and noted by many and will be the talk of many for some time to come. CONGRATULATIONS> Yes I shouted this and am proud to have done so. Thank you Thankyou.. Johna nd Christine

Attending the Mega event was a fantastic experience. Great to see so many people here and meet up with a few people to put faces to names. The effort put in by the organisers was second to none which resulted in a smoothly run event. Thanks to all who made this mega event possible. #638 Attended the Oz Mega as part of team Dvixen. Actually spent the entire weekend helping to run the Geo-What? Geo-Stuff! booth in the registration hall. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and especially those to bought things from us (in some cases, multiple times!). Alas, the business side of things swallowed the whole weekend for us, and we didn't manage to participate in the events. I didn't even get a chance to go geocaching at all this weekend!

What an extraordinary 4 days up here. I know when this event was first mooted to me by Greg and his gang back in Nov 08 I expressed doubt that it would all work. How pleased I am to say that it did all come together and how wrong I was. I can hardly begin to imagine the time the Riverina Caching committee have put into making this all happen. All contingencies were covered, the weather was perfect and the company first class. If any one else tries to put together another mega event in this country then they know the bar has already been set very high. Brilliant time, thanks to everyone.

Had to divide my time over the weekend between the annual Easter fly-in at Tumut and here. It was good to meet so many people and put faces to names. Like so many others have said, the organization and concepts were impressive. Outstanding event guys. Your efforts were appreciated by many people. You should be proud of how well it worked out.

How do you write a log for an event like this? There's only one way to say it.... WOW. What a Weekend! A MEGA Thank You to (in no particular order): Roostaman & Mrs Roosta Fred6603 & Mrs Fred6603 Baby & Mrs Gopher Boyracer Hinklenator The Farmers 5 The Lucas' This is Wagga's "Team of caching teams" that made the event happen. I also want to thank all the volunteers, as events like this don't happen without people like them. Lastly, big thanks to Team Crackers & fullonphil for the Awesome fireworks display, and to growingupisoptional for their hot air balloon. This event was a tribute to the Australian (and international) Geocaching Community, as everyone we met was so very friendly. In the end, thats what made it such a special weekend. Cheers, Murf & Mrs Murf.

Mary & David were there too. What a historic and magnificent occasion it was. As we arrived and saw the banners, balloons and helpers on hand, we knew this was going to be something special. The Committee organised everything to perfection, right down to the weather. The various activities were well-designed and kid-friendly, yet enjoyable for the oldies too. We've had several previous visits to Wagga, yet managed to find some new and interesting sites as we chased down our answers. The nightly entertainment was great, culminating in that outstanding fireworks display by Team Crackers, fullonphill and their helpers. Even after our own eight years in geocaching, and having attended more than 70 events, we're still impressed by how well we all get along as a community despite our different backgrounds and ages. It was almost like Christmas in April for us, as all of our children (each one cachers in their own right) and grandchildren gathered here too. Great as well to be able to meet so many or our caching friends from around the country. As usual, we also enjoyed meeting lots of teams who we'd previously known only as owners of caches we'd found, or as posters on the Forum. We were only sorry that we ran out of time to meet more. We've been involved in running a couple of Events in the past, so have a small understanding of the tremendous effort that the Committee has put in over the last 18 months to get Oz Mega up and running. We were delighted to be able to thank them publicly last night for that effort. From our perspective, no details were overlooked and everything ran like clockwork. The Committee members should take great pride in a job extremely well done. Our thanks to the Committee, all the volunteers, helpers and sponsors. Thanks also to the nearly 700 cachers and family members whose participation made it such a Mega success, and congratulations to the various prize winners. We're sorry it's over, but Oz Mega Wagga Wagga was an occasion not to be missed, and one we will always remember. Bring on the next one.

Highest accolades to the Committee for running such a spectacularly successful event. I did actually manage to get some caching in, in between the competitions, the entertainment, catching up with old friends and making new ones. Thanks again Riverina Geocaching.

1304 I think this event was inaptly named - it should have been called The Humungous Wagga Wagga Event. Congratulations to The Farmers 5, all the committee and helpers for organizing such an absolutely fantastic event. Thanks also to The Crisp Family for the fun "neighbours" episode and Crackers for doing his thing SOOO well.

Thank you! Thank you to The Riverina Geocaching Committee. A fantastic event. Well organized, well run and a complete success in all aspects I encountered. Thank you to the people of Wagga Wagga, you have been very obliging, what with 700 people poking and prodding around the most interment parts of your town in search of those finds. Your patience and hospitality has been very well received. Thank you to all the cachers and caching families that came along. Without all you it would not have been mega! Weekends like this remind me why caching I enjoy caching so much. The mental and physical challenge of the find and the community and social contact that brings us all together. Wow! Lets do it all again soon!

Attended 02/04/2010 - 04/04/2010 . What superlatives can I use that haven't aren't already overused in the many logs before and after mine? Being the frost Mega Event to be held not only in Australia but in the Southern Hemisphere the organising committee had a long and onerous road to hoe but hoe it they did with considerably aplomb From the forum discussions and the gradual release of information to the gaining of Mega status the amount of work that was being done behind the scenes could only be imagined but it all came to fruition over Easter and it all worked The Mega Event games were challenging and engaging, the entertainment was entertaining and the happy looks on everyone's faces told the story [^] Hearty cheers to all involved P.S. I was rather disappointed I didn't win a lucky draw giving me the opportunity to teach Miss Wagga Wagga about geocaching … but I have to accept that some wishes don't come true

Its very difficult to know what to say after reading some of the logs already. What is obvious is that the event is a credit to the organisers and also to those teams that attended. We all had a ball catching up with people we knew, putting faces to other teams and meeting new people. Staying on site was fantastic with everything catered for. We enjoyed the competetions, especially the fact that they were not just in the CBD and took us to many different places. For our first visit to Wagga Wagga we felt like we not only knew a bit about the place but we could also find our way around. We look forward to future events. We planned our annual leave around this event and we will definitely do the same next time. Hopefully there will be a next time. Thanks For The Event

Team Stashaa thoroughly enjoyed the Mega Event, one that memories will last a life time. High praise to Greg and the committee at Riverina Geocaching for the huge amount of work in putting together such a successful and well organised event. Thanks should also go to all the sponsors involved. One of the highlights was Southern Cross fireworks, thanks to Team Crackers for an excellent display. We also enjoyed the friendliness and camaraderie of the fellow geocachers. Everyone was so kind and it all added to the experience. It was also fantastic to have an Easter away without the rowdy campers! Thanks to the consideration of other geocachers in the camping ground. Thanks again to Riverina Geocachers for hosting a fantastic event, and we are all looking forward to next year’s!!!??? Find #200!

What a fantastic event. The Spindoctors had a fantastic weekend in Wagga Wagga. It's set the benchmark for not only future Mega Events in Australia, but events in general. A big thank you to everyone involved and to the 700-odd geocachers who attended. Now to edit all that audio for Geotalk.

Attended by Facitman and the Facit-Family plus m.s.n. at 19:00 The Facit-Family added this to their calendar a long long time ago and it was great to be able to spend 5 nights in Wagga. We headed up the Hume on Thursday meeting up with Rhinogeo in Benalla before winding our way up the back way to Wagga Wagga. Some more caching on Good Friday morning before heading to Kurrajong to register. Great to meet up again with old friends and to meet other cachers from far and wide. Saturday gave us a great chance to travel around Wagga finding answers to the games and bumping into more cachers. Terrific entertainment on Saturday night and some feverish pathtag exchanging before the fantastic Fireworks display. Sunday saw more collecting of game answers and more pathtag swapping before a fun night of competition results and music. A huge thanks to the Organising Committee for putting on 4 days packed with extremely well organised activities and entertainment. Great Job!!!

When the idea that Australia needed to host a mega event years ago came up, it would seem someone took up the challenge and ran with it, all the way to Wagga. Having been to many events, this was a considerable upgrade on your usual get together. The organisers have done an amazing job of keeping 99.99% of the attendees happy, so, who were those people who stormed off declaring they would not be back?? Nothing ever goes to plan, but, you guys did a very good impersonation of chaos under control. Was awesome to come back to Wagga, it's a great place, and also to catch up with so many people we know and meet a bunch of new ones as well! We enjoyed the activities and the entertainment provided! We even visited some of the sponsors for a gander. Looking at how much money this cost us to attend, and guessing quite a few other teams would have spent around the same, I bet Waggas economy gained a slight boost over the weekend! So, now, who is going to take up the challenge of starting the ball rolling on the next Aussie mega event?? Cheers

Well there can't be anything that I can say that hasn't already been said on this page without repeating most people's comments! But I will. Wow - well done to all the teams from Au that made it and a special pat on the back to the teams from elsewhere. A huge thanks to the organizers and to their connections with the weather Gods for the clear skies. The hospital volunteers, Team Crackers for such a brilliant and unexpected spectacular, the food people (all meals I tasted were so so good and yummy) and of course the sponsors and the entertainers..... and all the people you never see but you know they were there making the event smooooth as.... Clear skies. A special milestone for TeamAstro too as it was our FIVE THOUSANDTH CACHE [^][^][^][^][^][^][^] Did I say CLEAR SKIES

There isn't really anything more that can be added to what has already been written, except to add our cheers and applause!
We found almost every cache on route from Adelaide to the event and arrived on 999 finds, making this our 1,000 cache! This event had every aspect that makes geocaching so enjoyable for us - the opportunity to discover and explore new places (Wagga Wagga is a great place to visit), new and interesting experiences with a sense of adventure, and meeting so many interesting people and the camaraderie that is shared by all involves in this sport (and yes, we South Aussies were loud and proud!).
Highlights included: The Oz megopoly, many interesting caches to find (so many and so little time!), the amazing fireworks (thanks team Crackers and helpers), night time caching with Team Ermalesh, White Dog Gang and Princess Consuela, the helicopter drop and the many new people we had the chance to meet (and so many more that we didn't).
Our many thanks and congratulations to the organising comittee for their fantastic hard work that created an event that will be long remembered by all who were there....until the next one??????

We were determine to make this cache our 1400th cache, and hence a milestone for us. We didn't claim we had 'found' or participated in this event until we had completed the first of the challenges required - the Chance activity.
The event was very well organised and executed - well done to all the organising teams, and everyone else who assisted throughout the event.
We were very pleased that we decided to camp onsite in the end as the atmosphere was great, Everyone was very friendly, We walked around and talked with many teams, as did many others, and thoroughly enjoyed the Mix and Mingle challenge.
The hunt around town and the surrounding areas for the 40 waypoints and answering the questions was excellent. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Community Chest walk through town which we left til sunday afternoon as there was less people about.
We even managed to locate a few of the existing caches in the area. However we unfortunately missed the couple of on site ones placed for the event.
This was a great weekend with great company and activities.

The Mega Event was # 45 cache on our Aus Mega Event Roadtrip, Adelaide—Wagga—Geelong—Warrnambool--Mt Gambier--Adelaide. Fun all the way!! Shane, Nathan and I made the trip to the Mega Event with much excitement, planning and anticipation. With three days off either side of Easter we turned it into a nice road trip from Adelaide. With so many caches to be found along the way. On arrival at Camp Kurrajong on the Friday morning we were greeted by eager scouts willing to show us where to park. Everything was well planned and laid out with attention to every last detail. Registration was well organised and prompt and we loved the Megaopoly and other games/competitions. We could participate in the competition as well as pick up local caches on the way at our own pace, which was great. The chance game was well planned and lots of fun. Nathan picked up first prize. We met up with many other South Australian cachers and met new friends over the entire weekend. The comradeship of cachers is the best part of caching. Having a common interest and loving to exchange adventures. Almost like a huge family gathering really. We enjoyed evening drinks at Camp Parrot every night which was fun. The entertainment was brilliant with singing, dancing, games and general old fashioned fun around the campfire. Team Crackers excelled with the fireworks which was the best I have seen on a long, long time. I was very impressed with the translator for the deaf Geocachers at the presentation and entertainment venue. Overall well done to the committee and all volunteers who made the Mega Event absolutely Mega! Great to meet all of you and make new friends, bring on the next one!! Mega thanks for a great Easter, Josie (Schatzsuche) from Adelaide

Found by Bob at 1000 Well, it was a long wait, but it sure was worth it! It was the biggest caching event the country has ever seen and, on a personal note, my biggest few days of caching too. Not being the type of person who can organise anything too well, I'm in awe of the time, dedication, tenacity and strength of purpose that it must have required of the organizers - and over such a long period of time too. The weather was so good, I wonder whether the committee has a hot-line to big guy upstairs and everything just seemed to combine to make for an excellent outcome. It was great to catch up with many Vic cachers that I knew and it was virtually impossible to find a cache in the immediate area without bumping into one or two teams that I didn't know - very exciting stuff. Of the many varied and exciting activities arranged, I guess the super fireworks display courtesy of Team Crackers should be singled out for special mention - definitely one of the best I've ever seen. Once again, many thanks to Greg and the rest of the Riverina Geocaching Committee along with the city of Wagga Wagga which is, surely, one of the neatest, best laid out and prettiest cities going around.

What can we say that hasn’t been said so eloquently before. Simply fantastic. It is said the success of a project is in direct proportion to the amount of time and effort put into the preparation. The Farmers Five and the Committee have invested an untold and incredible amount of time and effort into this event to make it such a success. The website, the super slick registration on Friday, the range of competitions, entertainment and activities that kept everyone, young and old entertained and occupied was a tribute to your endeavours. Congratulations must also go to the tireless and hardworking Volunteers and the Hospital Auxiliary who fed the multitude so well. Special thanks and congratulations Team Crackers for their extraordinarily generous display. Congratulations also must go to the 700 members of the Geocaching family for their goodwill, friendship and the impeccable conduct shown over the entire weekend. It is a credit to the participants in this sport/obsession we enjoy. Every attendee will remember and talk about the first Mega Event in the Southern Hemisphere for many years to come. To any group who plan to create the next Mega Event, you have an incredibly high bar to exceed created by the Riverina Geocaching Committee. Well Done Guys Cheers to all Ian & Sandra Team Ladava

We could also be in the running the LTF (Last to find) prize. We didn't arrive till almost 9:30pm on the Saturday due to work and a few caches along the way causing a 'slight' delay in our planned arrival time
We look forward to the next Aussie Mega Event.

Well first of all kudos to the committee and volunteers. Very impressive organisation and execution. A splendid event, very slick, thank you very much. It was great to be here and catch up with some old (and not so old) caching friends. It was also great to put faces to many of the names Ive seen over the years in logs and in the forums. We had a really wonderful but very brief time...alas a cold virus has swept through Team Bananaphone this week so we werent really up to it and headed home early. Wagga is home to many fine geocaches, so it was a bit sad to see the unfortunate consequence of hosting the mega event with some pretty bad environmental damage at many of the caches we visited. But that is understandable in the circumstances and I hope the muggling toll isnt too high in the aftermath. Wagga is such a beautiful place to visit that even though we have been here for a caching expedition before, we are already thinking about coming back for another caching weekend!! Thanks again, a fantastic experience.

Down for a short while with MC KENNA, sadly real life invaded on the caching (sad, I know). Great effort to all those involved in organising this, you guys did brilliantly. It was loads of fun and quite hilarious wandering around Wagga where every second person was caching. Thanks, Trillian

GUYS AND GALS OF RIVERINA CACHING U DUN GREAT................. We really enjoyed meeting everyone and made some new friends. We had a fun caching dash but unfortunately had to come home early. Thankyou for a great event. Cheers MC KENNA PS It would be interesting to see how many scout people were there as just in my very short 24 hour visit I came across about 50. Bravo to them.

A big congratulations to Riverina Geocaching. A fabulous well organised weekend. Enjoyed putting faces to so many names we have only seen in logs. The competitions gave us a great tour and an insight into what makes Wagga Wagga tick. Thank you all.

We have enjoyed our time at this event which has proved MEGA in all areas. It has been great catching up with lots of cachers, both old friends and new. Thanks to the organisers too for their mega efforts in making this event such a success.

Thankyou SO MUCH to everyone who helped organise this event, committee, sponsors, cachers and everyone else! was AWESOME fun, highlight was the helicopter dropping the 200 foam cubes!

Find # 1450. A fantastically organised event that certainly lived up to expectation. It was great to get together with so many cachers from around the country, and even some from overseas, to share war stories and celebrate our love for caching. Arrived in town the night before and camped just down the road to make the most of an early start. A fun couple of days camping with good friends and sneaking out for the occasional find including one memorable 5/5. Congratulations to the committee and all volunteers on putting together a fantastic weekend. The benchmark has now been set. We can only look forward to many more Aussie Mega Events to come!

attended the oz mega event with the Tankengine clan (mini matt, BBbumblebee) and made a new team name just for the event which was "minibeepoo" which i thought was quite clever and funny. found lots of caches while we were in wagga wagga so i get a busy night of logging my finds! Oz mega was an awesome experiance and im happy i went and as a new member this was a catching hook to the world of geocaching and i plan to continue geocaching in the future.

What a mega organising effort - congratulations and well done to everyone involved in running this amazing event. Very well done! It was incredible to see so many people enjoying themselves and looking so relaxed. Unfortunately illness cut short our visit but I look forward to weekending in Wagga again soon. Cheers,

We could write a book on this event. But...looking at the logs, it has all been said. Our highlight was climbing the Rock with Pprass at the helm! "ITS A SHORTCUT..." Yes it was a short cut. Straight up the side. Looking forward to the next event. Well done to all involved and thanks to all those cachers we met. Thanks for the event! The Riddellers [?]

Team ROSMAR thoroughly enjoyed the event , we can't begin to imagine how many hours was spent organising all of the activities etc, so a huge thankyou to all involved. Also a huge thankyou to Team Crackers for the fantastic fireworks display. The competitions were a great way for us to see the local sights and learn some of the local history, well done. We met so many cachers and made many new friends along the journey. We stayed in Wagga for a week and enjoyed finding the majority of the local caches and left with several crafty ideas to test the skills of our kiwi cachers at home. Looking forward to the next one T4TE.

A terrific event that definitely lived up to expectations. Well planned, with activities geared to get people out of their circles and meeting other teams, and having fun at the same time. A spectactular fireworks show, too - well done to Team Crackers & Co for this, and a huge thank you to all the organisers, you did a terrific job. Hope to see you all next year for the next Mega Event . TFTE.

Everyone is saying it, but that's because it's true............what an awesome event/weekend. Arrived on Friday afternoon and left Monday after the CITO.......and the time in between was full on fun, and a pity it's now over. I would like to say thanks and congratulations to the committee for the excellent work and effort that was obviously put in to make the event what it was. Camping on site was the way to go, as someone has already mentioned, it meant you didn't miss anything. My thanks also to the (mainly) ladies from the hospital auxiliary who ran the kitchen. Feeding the hungry hordes is never an easy thing to do and I think they did a stirling job. I enjoyed the meals, and it gave us all yet another chance to meet fellow cachers. The fireworks show was excellent, the performers put on a great show and the sponsors were greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all the efforts.............I hope we can do it all again..........in 2012. Grab a few TB's which I will move on shortly.

Was great to put faces to so many names I'd seen online or in cache logs! Spent far too much time chatting with wandering friendlies while behind the Geo-What? Geo-Stuff! booth, and not nearly enough time caching! (We did manage a couple in the parking lot before we left on Monday, hopefully we can make it back for a cache run one weekend in the future.) Congrats to the committee for putting together an awesome event!

Congrats to the whole organising committee for the effort they put in to getting the first Southern Hemisphere Mega Event up and running. By all accounts it was a great success and will set a benchmark for future events. The entire Ksix crew all had a great time and will definitely be back for any future Mega's. As always it was great to catch up with past friends but also very enjoyable finally being able to put same faces against the many caching names we have seen on the forums and cache logs etc. Catch you all at the next Mega Event when ever and where ever it may be. Cheers, Ksix "Eat... Sleep''' Geocache..."

Well done guys. What else can say? The challenge was taken up almost 2 years ago for the first Mega Event in Australia and the very keen cachers in Wagga took up the challenge. We can appreciate all the hard work that went to this event and it ran like a well oiled machine. We can also commiserate with the partners of the organisers and reinforced by Mrs. Rooster vowing to kill her husband if he touched the computer for a week after the event! . The fireworks were sensational, the people very friendly and the men and women from the hospital auxiliary did a great job feeding everyone. Good work to the organisers of the Monopoly challenge and also the pirate adventure. Both must have taken a long time to set up. We will plan another weekend or 2 up your way to nab a few more caches. Well done.

Wow. Congratulations to the organisers for the supreme effort that went in to organising an event of this scale. It was quite an eye opener. Had a great time, met a lot of cachers, and cached very hard over the weekend. I hope that one day we'll be able to organise a mega event in New Zealand, and Wagga Wagga will certainly be in our mind as we start thinking about that. Cheers Gav [5272]

This was by far the highlight of my short time in caching. From the moment I drove in the gate on Good Friday morning, I knew this event was going to be something special. The way we were greeted, given our showbag, had the Megopoly downloaded on the GPSr, etc etc ,etc, we had the feeling that this committee had covered all the bases. I can't begin to imagine the amount of work, the doubts, and the discussions, all in order to make everyone elses weekend perfect. And I'm sure your group hardly relaxed and enjoyed it till it was nearly over. So a huge thankyou to the committee, the sponsors, the volunteers ,and to all those that placed caches before and for the event, you made it a memorable occasion. And it was great to meet all those fellow cachers whose caches I'd found, and those that had found mine. Nice to put a face to the name.

Yes it really was a fantastic weekend. Find 1350, just a minor milestone for me. It was great to see everyone have so much fun & to meet so many more cachers that we haven't met before. Hopefully we will get to visit some of them in the future or at other events. All the hard work leading up to the event really did pay off & there is lots of people to thank for it. So I have to offer my own thanks to many of them including - the web page developer gurus, Patrick of caching team 'Partic', & Ben of 'murf', the families of the committee who spent many months of preparation, the caterers for all the great food, the tireless volunteeers, especially Les & Brian, John & Christine of 'youngoldfella', Robyn & Darren of 'Just a trifle' the long distance travellers from ALL over Australia & NZ, America & Switzerland, the firworks teams of Team Crackers & fullonphil, the whole Oz Mega Committee, and just so many more also thanks to everyone who attended for making it such a memorable Mega event. I really enjoyed speaking broken German to Hobel & their friends all weekend & taking them to try to find a kangaroo in the wild. That was fairly special & a great experience. As I have said so many times, wherever the next one is, we will be happy to travel to it. Roostaman.

1168 Well there is not much that I could say that hasn't been said before. Thanks to all who were involved with the running of this event, thanks to the sponsors, thanks to the locals for putting up with us all, thanks to all those who attended and thanks to all the cache owners around the area. We had a top weekend running around completing the compertitions and finding a few caches that we were unable to find on our last trip. Sitting around the camp site chatting, fireworks (the best we have seen in a long while), hotair ballon, easter eggs and even a chopper ride. Colleceted a few path tags (thanks to those who were willing to share even though we did not have one to offer). We are starting the process of making our own and will contact those we have collected tags from and will send you one as soon as we can. Got us a couple of unactivated coins that will be added to our collection and made available to discover shortly. Once again Thanks to all PS how many R's were there on that sign?

Two of the Gigglygecko Clan attended on the Friday. We must have got in quite early as there were only a few folks around but we did spot early gamers running around town on the Friday morning, collecting answers for the monopoly game. We only realised when watching them that cachers are really obvious to spot - we just thought we were fairly invisible but guess not.....lol. Great to catch up with Wagga cachers again, nice to see our home turf. TFTE and all the organisation that went into it - you guys totally rock!

Its pretty hard to say anything different from the comments already made, in that this was a well organised and overall great experience.[^]
The highlights for the kids was the easter eggs hunt, the fireworks and the ball drop, and even though they didn't get any in the scramble I managed to grab two for them to collect the stuffed toy goodies.
For meIt was good to meet some of the interstate cachers you only read about, and doing some cachers with some of my follow Qldrs.
For Mrs GhostGums it was just not having to cook for 4 days
Again well done to the committee for their great efforts and I look forward to the next mega event.
Will add some photos later.

Thanks to the skills of the organising committee, we had a brilliant time at Australia's first Mega Event. Everything appeared to run smoothly and the weather was terrific. It was great to catch up with friends we had met through caching, and to meet teams from other states and overseas. Should there be another Mega Event in this part of the world, there will be awfully big shoes to fill. Thanks must also go to the various sponsors, and to the people of Wagga Wagga itself.

LOVED LOVED LOVED it! Well done to all the organizers for making this the BEST event ever! Kudos also to all those sponsors who made it just that bit more special. And Team Crackers gets a resounding round of applause for setting up and donating the fireworks for a really special evening! It's the first time Piglet has seen fireworks (he's 10), and he loved them too I do feel sorry for Cached having to clean up puppy poo though (Schnapps, you coped really well considering!). Wagga locals were smiley and helpful, and made caching in their town a joy. Loved meeting everyone, especially those that I had not met in the flesh before - it was so great seeing you all! Also loved catching up with old friends. I still cant believe how many people I didn't catch up with though (including some Tasmanians!). Really, the only thing I didn't love were the spiders!!! There were just too many of them - and they were huge!!!!!!!! *Note to next Mega organizers - please fumigate at least a 100km radius of site (or just the venue and every cache location, thanks Top effort, and i'm really looking forward to the next one! Geocoins and pathtags at the ready

Our first Mega Event - unfortunately without caching-partner SGGK, who had to travel to the other side of the globe (without GPS, but still managed to find a few caches - good on ya). Instread I was joined by Indiana08. Although we could stay only for one night , we enjoyed every minute of it. It was great to catch up with fellow cachers, what a friendly bunch. We had just enough time to do one event cache and it had to be "Chance". What a fantastic setting with great waypoints. I'm still angry with myself that I didn't take my camera along for the hunt. Great event, great organisation! Great anticipation in, lots of memories out Many thanks to the organisers for this fantastic event.

What a way to rekindle our geocaching adventures, after a short break due to workloads and Adam's knee. It was an amazing weekend and we would like to thank the organising comitee and all involved in making it the best caching event to be held in Australia or mabye even the world. We both enjoyed meeting fellow geocachers and completinging the weekends activities. What a wonderful way to explore Wagga! Thankyou very much and we can't wait for the next one!

There were just so many good things that I don't dare list them, for fear I'd miss something! ('Though I think SamCarter, our wonderful chauffeur covered most of them!) But thank you, thank you, thank you for such a job well done! AND I fell in love with Wagga! Did I say thank you?!?

This was cache # 19 of 29 for the day in the company of hipressure on day two of our Oz Mega event trip. Well I finally made it to the Mega Event, it was doubtful for some time but all turned out well. My late mate dak's Emu Mob would have loved it, he always said it was about the numbers but I knew him well I know that it was also about the people that he met on his caching journey, I took note of that and tried to limit my self to around 25 caches a day, it payed off as I met some great people at the event and managed to form a new friendship with someone. Thanks to all those who turned up and thanks to Riverina Geocaching for the event. [This entry was edited by acts2youthgroup on Thursday, April 08, 2010 at 11:58:27 PM.]

Not much more can be said that hasn't already been said. The dedication of the organising committee and the amount of time they must have put in to arrange an event like this was incredible. The amount of sponsorship they secured ........well, it left us speechless.
Altogether an excellent event from beginning to end - far exceeding our expectations.
We were also surprised by the attendees. What a wonderful group of cachers they were - a very large group and yet there was no roudy element. Everyone appeared to be very considerate of others, friendly, helpful and welcoming.
We weren't going to make the trip over from Perth but then we thought that we might regret it if we didn't. We are now so pleased that we made the decision to attend.
A big thankyou to all.

What a fantastic way to spend a long weekend. I had never travelled to Wagga before, but it's well worth taking a detour next time I'm heading up to Canberra! Loved being able to spend time with the entire maccamob clan: maccamob, Slider & Smurf (+glowbug & bluey) and Juzmac. Also lovely to see many long time caching friends - it's been far too long! I think it's time to fire up the GPS again and aim for the 1000! Thanks to everyone who helped make the event such a success.

We came from Switzerland to Australia Mega Event. This Mega Event in Wagga Wagga was super. We enjoyed the location, Music Fireworks and the Flag from Switzerland. All people were very nice. We were able to find some Cache. We enjoyed the special extra Tour in the Park. Thanks Greg. We were lucky to have our Friends in Australia to help us. Thanks for the organisationn and the big present. We will never never forget these wonderfull Days in Wagga Wagga. Vielen Dank an Greg. Wir waren sehr froh das unsere Australischen Freunde uns noch beistanden mit Übersetzungen. Vielen Dank für das organisieren des tollen Events, es war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis in Wagga Wagga. Words are inadequate, but that's all we have. A culture of excellence from the committee, vounteers and sponsors. Geocaching people are the best bunch of people I have ever met. It was one of the first things that I discovered about geocaching and I have yet to be disappointed - and I guess a Mega Event, with that many people involved would be the place to have that happen. Thank you to everyone involved. I feel as though I have cheated someone to have that amount of value for $30.

Unfortunately I could only spend 10 minutes here as I passed through on the way to Canberra and met one geocacher, from SA no less. It looked very well well organised and I'm glad it all came off fantastically.

I have so many thoughts about this event, all good. It couldn't have been better organised. The activites were great - especiallly the geopoly game. My initial thoughts were "Why would I do these 40 waypoints when there are real caches to find?" but this was quickly expelled when I noted that they all took you to a cool place (e.g. Stonehenge), and there was usually a cache nearby. The geokids must have had a great time - easter eggs, fireworks, heli-drops.... The organisers and attendees were all fantastic. We met a lot of teams in person that we'd only read about in logs and by their caches. Discovered a few new things about Australia - burrs, fairy grass, locusts. My car now has a nice protective coating of dried locust guts. Didn't get the car stuck anywhere. Battled "The Rock" and won. Thankyou very much to the organisers and sponsors for pulling off the best Mega ever.

Like everyone else, my familey and I had a great weekend at this very well organised event. We enjoyed meeting everyone and doing the event games.
I really enjoyed doing the chance game after midnight when the area was quiet.
As most of the caches had a lineup for the find I have left them for a return trip, there was enough to do purely with the event anyway.
Thanks to the organising commitee.

Find #1059 @ 10:10am I knew by the way the web page and registration process was set up that this was going to be a well organised and professional event, but I must say, it greatly exceeded my expectations. If I could find any fault, it would be that it didn't go on for a week. I thoroughly enjoyed myself through out the duration. The ease of a seamless arrival at the gate, the concise directions of where to park, the registration process, the quick loading of the competition way points onto the Garmin, to the facilities and fun and not forgetting the myriad of caches in the area. The entertainment was super and relaxed. I enjoyed catching up with old friends and making new ones. The idea of the name tags and playing card was a great ice breaker and I was mixing almost immediately I put my tag on. A very big thank you to everyone involved, from the organisers, sponsors, residents and fellow cachers who made this a very memorable time indeed. YOU ALL NEED TO BE CONGRATULATED.

A personal milestone for me 1,000 GC caches. It took a bit of effort to get my numbers up and a few weekends of frenzied caching. Crystal Warrior was quite tolerant of my 'temporary' obsession and I promised to slow down once this milestone is out of the way. Ask me how I went should you see me sometime in the future! The trip over went smoothly as we collected a few on the way into town then around before lunch. A quick check into our lodgings and out to the event where it was almost like an ACT event with so may Canberra cachers in attendance. A great weekend of caching followed meeting many new and familiar cachers around the traps. Thanks to the organising committee for all the good work and to the catering crew who provided sustenance and a friendly chat when we dropped by. All in all, great fun................ We took the long way around from Hobart, travelling via Sydney, Maitland and Katoomaba. We arrived mid afternoon, thanks to Googlemaps, the man who lives in our car gps and T’s mapreading!! The excellent, friendly organisation saw us quickly registered and out in the field – where we found it was possible to do the mixing and mingling virtually anywhere in Wagga where there were either event or normal caches!! We are expecting to meet many more teams on the megopoly board today and tomorrow!! Looking out into the sea of tents we thought it quite likely that we wouldn’t see any other Tassie cachers over the whole weekend, but lo and behold, ones we knew materialised through the stargate as we were learning about Texan caching events!! Many thanks to the organisers for all their work - an amazing effort. TFTC!!!

What can I say, its day 2 of the Mega event and I need to log my attendance. I have just returned from the Saturday night entertainment and have nothing but glowing comments and praise for the event and the orgainsers. So much has been said and written in the lead-up to the event that I can say it has surpassed my expectations. It has been so much fun to meet and enjoy the company of so many geocachers from all over Australia and the rest of the world. We have a daughter who is now hooked on pathtags and a son who has so many new 4 year old friends. Many many thanks to the Riverina Committee for the effort you guys have gone to, to organise such a great event for Australia's first Mega Event is a credit to you. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our 4000th find. Thanks

Both Winglens were excited to be able to attend the first ever Australian Mega, and excited like a pair of kids on Christmas morning. We were sorry we could only stay two days: boy it was hard to leave on Saturday afternoon. We had a fantastic time meeting so many people whose names we knew, and catching up with old friends. Plenty of caching around Wagga and beyond with McPhan, Sol de Lune and Zsazsa7 (thanks guys for your company, great fun as always), and the city and countryside was looking great after recent rain and beautiful Autumn weather. We want to thank the Committee and all associated with the Mega for your superb achievement, for being brave enough to take the plunge and organise the first one in Australia. We were enormously impressed at the professional organisation and attention to detail. I think this one showcased what is great about Australia - the outdoors, so much space and camaraderie, and freedoms so many others cannot enjoy. Outstanding guys!!!!!

3500. Shell and I were one of the mad people ready and waiting at the gate on Friday morning. Right from the start we got a feel for how professional the event was going to be. We had a great time and managed to see lots of the old faces and quite a few of the new ones. We would have liked more time to see more people but just didn't get there. The highlight would have to be the fireworks and whilst Molly and Simba were not too sure about them I think most of the other people felt the same way. The main area was great and we had some good laughs on the last night with the dancing and awards. Thanks to Riverina Geocaching, a fantastic event. Very well run, you can tell a lot of effort was put into it. *Recommended* See everyone at the next one, wherever and whenever it may be, one thing is for sure, the next organisers have very big shoes to fill. Cache number 12 of the 28th day of our trip to Tasmania and the Mega Event. Arrived at about 1000hrs, find number 378 for the trip so far. The day of the Mega Event opening, and we were still a few short of making it a milestone cache, so we had been out early to get the numbers. Finally, we had those numbers, so could head out to Kurrajong, to enjoy the weekend. The event is our 1500th cache ever. Logging this a couple of days later, and the event has been fantastic so far. So many familure names to finally put faces to. So many new people to meet. We are so glad we made the trip down. Mrs Bundy has become very interested in Pathtags. Our total distance driven over the last 4 weeks has been 7625km, ( there has been quite a few more travelled by various other means- light aircraft, cruise boat, jet boat, train, ect) and we have enjoyed every K of it. Cheers Bundy

This was a special milestone for my caching partner W6R who reached 1000 at the event. It was great to meet so many cachers and put faces to names. Nice to see so many Canberra cachers there too. It was almost like going to a local event. Thanks to the organisers who made this possible and so much fun.

Congratulations to the Riverina Geocaching Committee for organising such a great event. The committee have obviously worked thousands of hours to put the event together and you should be very proud of your achievements. The activities were tremendous, a lot of thought and work had gone into creating them. The time and effort was well worth it as it was enjoyed by all. The entertainment and facilities were great. It was great to be around so many friendly people with the same common interest. I enjoyed meeting so many people and associating faces with the names you so often see. I can honestly say that it was the best Mega Event that I have ever been to. [This entry was edited by The Cash Man on Sunday, April 04, 2010 at 3:43:00 PM.]

Mega 10. The beginning of a fantastic weekend after a slow morning at the reserve down the road. The iniatial impreessions were great, the big camping area and smooth registration. From there it all got better and better as people arrived and caching began. Saturday night was the highlight with good music and fire works. On Sunday the prize session was exciting if un-probable, oh well. Monday was time to clean up and get on the road. So fanastic. I hope a group can get another Mega together one day, but they will have a lot to live up too. Thanks. 3260.1 TNLN Visited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 Albida

#690 After some discussion within the Us team, as to whether we should log the event as our 700th cache or where it came in the list, we decided that we should just log it as it "fell" in our order of finds, as we felt that just being part of this fantastic event was just a huge privilege & the event deserved to be logged properly. Now, this event surpassed our highest expectations. Everything seemed to be very well planned, and yes - as conference organisers, we know that there would have been a number of hiccups on the way, but the Committee seemed to overcome all of those hiccups very well, and the outcome was superb! A great event, a great time was had, and many fond memories will be kept. It was great to catch up with old friends and meet up with some familiar names, but not-so-familiar faces. Riverina Geocaching should hold their collective heads high and be very proud of the effort they put into producing a great first for the southern hemisphere. Also, thanks are extended to all of the sponsors that came on-board for the event. Again, we know how hard it is to get sponsors for any event, so our thanks also go out to these people - well done on being part of history. Team Crackers - fireworks were great! Thanks again to the organisers - I'm sure you all had your specific roles & all of them were carried out exceptionally well!. Three Cheers!!! Only those people who attended this event will truly know how fantastic it was. Having been privy to a few details leading up to the event, I still can't believe how fantastic it was and it exceeded all of my expectations. It was wonderful to catch up with so many people over the weekend, as well as meet and put faces to names to many more people from all across Australia. I want to thank each and every one of the committee members for all their hard work leading up to the event, and for all their efforts over the weekend to make this one event I'll never forget. Also, a special thanks to Team Crackers for their wonderful efforts with the fireworks display. This was one event I'm sure will be talked about for many years to come.

We had a great time camping with old friends, finding caches and winning prizes and making new friends. We were very impressed with the organisation and detail the organising committee went to. It truly was Mega. A great big thanks. Thanks for the prize of the flight in a helicopter. JJ particularly enjoyed it and it was great to see the campsite from the air. Will post the photos soon. The prizes in the bags turned out to be 12 sestima containers so look out Canberra Jemalong & Family will have to put on their thinking caps and place more caches soon. The prize of the monkey is also in pride of place in JJ's bedroom. Thanks again for a wonderful weekend we loved it all.

What a fantastic event this was. Both Anna and me really enjoyed it, and it was fantastic to catch up with friends from around the country, some I had met before and others I just knew as names. Amazing amount of hard work from the organisers to make this all flow as smoothly as it did. Excellent work all of you, and many thanks for getting this off the ground. Whoever takes it on next will have a hard act to follow.

It's all been said before but what a fantastic event this was with such great organisation. The standard has been set very high for any subsequent Australian Mega Event. I made sure that just prior to this event I had reached 3999, so this becomes my 4000th cache, and what a deserving milestone cache it was. My thanks to all who helped organize and run this event.

Highlights for me included meeting so many wonderful people, the fun competitions, the faultless organisation and finally meeting Paegleboy. The only lowlight was the disappointing calls of 're-draw' when people had won competitions legitimately. Bogan group mentality. Thanks everyone for a special weekend. R - B

What a great event! ... words fail to do this event justice, but I'll try... - superbly organised & an ideal location (even the dust didn't distract too much - I got dustier & dirtier on one of the bridge caches in town!) - so much fun for cachers of all ages, a weekend packed with activities - the magnificent fireworks were a real higlight (thanks Team Crackers!) - well constructed games (although I think the 5 hours estimate for the main game was a bit optimistic!) - absolutely loved the Chance game across the road - anyone who didn't do that missed out on something special (kudos for all the work that went into just that one game) - friendly helpers & committee always about to assist when asked (not to mention the hard working caterers that kept us well fed) - the perfect weather for the event - it couldn't have been any better - even the entrance to the site was so colourfully signed - there was no missing the spot when we arrived! It was so hard to leave the social atmosphere at the campsite to head off & do the games & some caching - and was always great to head back to Oz Mega Central at the start & end of the day - I'm almost a bit sad I wasn't camping onsite (but I did enjoy my soft bed & shower close by!). I really enjoyed meeting so many cachers that I had only ever crossed paths with previously via email/forums/pathtag trading or just seeing their names in logs. Unfortunately there were also so many more that I didn't meet up with at the event. Maybe next time. A couple of personal highlights for me were the pathtag trading opportunities & winning the caption competition - thanks Maccamob for selecting my entry!! Now I have so many new Sistema containers I may even have to use some of them for their intended purpose for a change! I could keep going on about how much I really enjoyed this event, but probably should just end by saying a very big "WELL DONE" to the hard working committee for all their work to ensure the event went off without a hitch - and to all the other attendees that helped to make it into a MEGA event. It was all superb! I feel so sorry for those who couldn't make it - you really missed something special. TFTE - I took a bunch of GCs & TBs too...

Attended'ED Very well done. Drove up with linFone and rubai. We had a rather good time. All the organised activities were much more interesting than we had expected. The Mix 'n' Mingle idea was really good, I'm sure I would have not talked to many other caches I ended up talking to had it not been for that. The fireworks, they were fantastic. Better than Skyfire! I found it hilarious that nearly every cache we visited there was either someone already there, or someone would come as we were leaving. The only thing with that I guess was that the Geo-smash around each cache made it obvious where the caches were... Definately the highlight for me was when we went off on Sunday night to do the night caches Northen Lights and Pommy Nights, they were really fun Thanks for a great event, Jezzza Xtreme. Maybe next time you can turn down the dust though

Wow, what a weekend. Thanks to Riverina Geocaching for organising a great event The Geokids (and Geoadults) had a great time at the very nice location (both the site and Wagga itself) and especially enjoyed the fireworks. Thanks to the many people who organised and volunteered at the Oz Mega Event, as well as all the sponsors. I, like all the other attendees, had a wonderful time. I think we can safely say it was a HUGE success and no doubt many like myself are looking forward to attending the next one. It was great to meet up with old friends as well as finally put a face to those 'chaching' names I often either read in logs or hear mentioned in conversation.

Wow what an absolutely fantastic Easter weekend. The Riverina group did a fantastic job organising Australia's first Mega Event and even the weather was perfect for caching and all the events. As my geo-brother (philthy747) and I grew up in Wagga, we both jumped at the chance to attend and renew our acquaintence with the area - we were last here 13 years ago. We also had the chance to catch up with cachers we have met in our travels and of course add to our caching finds. Congratulations on a superb Event - its going to be hard to beat!

What a fantastic event. I travelled here with SG-3 and the eldest of the Marines, and the Marine was so enthusiastic about getting here that he didn't want to stop for any caches on the way up (it probably didn't help that it's a "slightly" longer drive than he's used to), and so we only got one smiley en route! There were many things that impressed us: the organisation was great, there was a wonderful friendly atmosphere, the catering was good, the fireworks were awesome, the activities were nicely put together (the "Chance" pirate-themed activity across near the "lagoon" was a particular highlight), we enjoyed visiting Wagga (and we had a great time on the miniature railway in the lovely botanical gardens), and we were surprised and pleased that there was so little T to CITO. Our thanks to the organisers for all their hard work: you've really done a terrific job and we just want you to know it was really appreciated. It will be a hard act to follow ... but I hope some folks are going to try! (Oh, and it's my 869th gc+gca cache, which makes it a non-special number for a special event!!)

Dropping in our Coins and TB for discovery As for the FTF/FTL thing I personally think you guys should get over it and just enjoy what the Committee has organised for you, from what I can tell they have gone to a lot of effort to get this thing off the ground, so lets just enjoy and be thankful for what they have done. At the end of the day if you are not happy, there is always next year, lets see if you can do better.

TB Drop. I'll be happy just to log the event. I'm flying home from NZ today just to come down to the event & then flying back again first thing Tuesday morning. If we are lucky enough to have our name drawn out of the hat for the FTF, then that would be great, but I thought the whole point of this was to be part of a little bit of caching history in Australia - our first Mega Event. See you there over the weekend. Cheers, Mr Us.

My mobile number is listed a 2 posts ago and I am always happy to help a fellow geocacher. Personally I think the committee has done something no one has done before and that is putting this all together and they deserve recognition for that alone. As for my phone messages I am not concerned as this weekend is all about my idea of caching: Having fun, caching, the adventure, catching up with new cachers we haven't met and catching up with firends. Since we started caching we have done things and been to places that we would never have gone to, we have also made life long friends that include camping trips, events, weddings, parties and unfortunately a funeral. This is what caching is to us and if the committee wants to set some rules and regulations I am happy to oblige. Let the weekend begin and have fun as we are all going to be a part of a huge event that i am sure will be talked about until the next. Regards Mr.Coffee and the "lets have fun, maybe a rum or two or three and then I will be Mega'd" Coffee Clan.

Regarding the logging and FTF discussion. Order of logs will not affect whomever is awarded the FTF honour in Sunday's draw. An FTF Attended log can be entered days later, and the different cache stats programs will correctly count it as a First to Find. Requiring that awarded FTF is also FTL (I think this is where the confusion is coming from) is problematic - logs entered in one sequence sometimes appear in another. (Checking recent notes - they aren't in the same order as the emails that were sent out as notifications, especially with the date difference between us and the server.. I think everyone could agree that whomever enters an Attended log containing FTF and was not the raffle winner on Sunday - that the log should be deleted. Log when able, get that milestone in the right spot. With so many logs that will be on this Mega Cache entry - the actual order of log entry is the least of everyone's concerns. To quibble over the actual logging order? It will be difficult to monitor with so many attendees, and a waste of attention best spent on having fun! If this was not already planned - perhaps the committee would be so kind as to make a special edit once the Mega is over to announce the winner of the FTF prize into the cache description. (TB drop

I am hoping someone at the event will have a Serial top USB adapter to allow upload to my Sportrak from the Laptop. I don't mind paying DSE a bit more than elsewhere (Ebay) but $79.95 from DSE v's about $4 from ebay - not worth the diff. (I can connect on the desktop, but just loaded GSAK on the PC and got caught out by the lack of port.)

G'day all, Unfortunately I am unable to attend this historic event but I've been reading this discussion on FTF/FTL with interest and if I may offer a suggestion, why not allow anyone to log their attendance from Friday the 2nd onwards, then when the FTF is awarded, have that cacher/team back-date their log to the 1st of April? The GC website will then place that cacher/team's log first on the list and only logs dated before the 2nd need be deleted/modified? Have fun and hopefully I'll see everyone at the next one! A final update from Committee on the eve of Australia’s first mega event. After 4 days of infrastructure set up,The Riverina Geocaching Committee is pleased to announce that all is ready and in place for some great times ahead. We have been blessed with a fantastic forecast around 25 degrees each day and sunny conditions. The inventory has passed 800 and all tables are set up for a great display. Once again, please drive slowly and follow all the marshals directions from the entrance. All roads are one way and either 5 or 10 kph speeds apply. For campers: Follow the marshals instructions right through to your exact spot. Each of the 150 locations are 10m by 8m and all marked with 4 temporary plaques in the corners as well as displaying site number ,road end and walkway end. No spot is under a large tree. 24 extra toilets have been placed at various locations for your convenience as well as the main toilet blocks. For day parkers : please follow the directions to a designated car park region.Friday is mainly an arrivals day and plenty of games will feature all within your registration pack. All maps ,games and camp rules , are enlarged 6 to 8 times normal and are placed at various points to study. We ask you to wear your colourful name tag at all times for many reasons which will become evident later plus these will be camp entry passes to return in. Coke vans will be available selling a range of soft drinks, flavoured milks, juice, smiths chips, chocolates, water, batteries, aeroguard and 2 ice bags sizes. Please respect all the “code of conduct ‘ rules for the benefit and enjoyment of all geocachers. Wagga Wagga now welcomes all travellers from around Australia and beyond . The city and Committee is looking forward to producing the great hospitality that we are famous for. We hope you enjoy what is hopefully the best geocaching get together Australia has seen. Thankfully Greg President.

Some more Committee updates with less than two days to go.The weather forecast is very good and a huge relief for all concerned and all geocachers. Most camping positions are almost finished. A one way roads system throughout will feature and each and every camping position is a rectangle 10m by 8m. Each of the 150 positions will have a temporary A4 size plaque fixed to your 4 corners .One side will have a road and the opposite side a walkway to taps spaced every 40m. Each site has a number and marked with road / walkway on the plaques. All camping positions are flat and you will be no more than 70m to toilets in any direction either within buildings or one of 24 arriving Thursday. Many volunteers and Committee will be assisting in all components on your arrival. A minimum of 30 upwards to 50 will all have orange fluro vests on ,all logo’d with “Oz Mega Wagga Wagga “ in large writing. The Riverina Geocaching Committee will have blue logo’d shirts on as well , for your questions and assistance. All information you require for many events will be within your “Registration Pack “. Programs, Camp Maps , City Maps, Meal Vouchers, Sponsors deals, and all game sheets, plus much ,much more. The disk for the main game is an optional extra to download and all games are supplied on A4 sheets. Within the pack will also be your logo’d name tag for every person. We request you wear this constantly for many reasons of which one includes the fact it will double up as your “Camp Pass “ to return back in through the main gate each day.The TB inventory has jumped from 400 to 566 in 2 days and building constantly. All is set for a great time and the Riverina Geocaching Committee looks forward to meeting and greeting all teams on arrival. Drive carefully and see you soon. Greg President.

Sorry Greg, I just noticed this, "Any team who logs prior (to Sunday) will have their log deleted." Is this a typo? We plan on making the event a milestone and want to log it so we can get on with our other logs on the Friday. What about the people that only attend for a day or two? If this is correct, what is the theory behind it? Cheers, Matt

Another information update from Committee: Everything is on track after three of the four days for set-up.Mowing of two 15 acre reserves is almost complete. All the roads systems are in place . The camping area looks green ,mown and well defined with around 150 camping locations ready for teams to “set up camp ‘ in. One new ruling we have made is for safety reasons. There will be no camping on the entrance gate area on the Thursday night hoping for a first entry and first to find log.The “ FTF “ log will be awarded to the winner drawn out on Sunday Night of the main Mega Competition.Any team who logs prior will have their log deleted. The entrance road is off a very busy road with a 100KPH speed limit.Remember ,there has to be a lot of staff and volunteers arriving a few hours prior to the 9 AM opening for last minute set up of much more than you can imagine. You will be guided through by marshals after 9 am and be directed to one of two different directions of “day parking “ for non campers or/ the “campers area “. We understand you will have many questions, but we have catered for everything on your arrival.Your ‘Registration Pack “ is unique and has all you need including all games that will fill most of the first 3 days. There are over 60 individual prizes .Over $3,500 in the Mega Competition alone which features 15 placegetter prizes..All games , information , maps and other camp information has been enlarged from A4 in your rego pack to 6 times its size and placed inside and outside of the halls for your easy reading. We have also kept many secrets and highlights off the page to reveal at the event. We catered for all arrivals and are not releasing any of these until well into Saturday for weekend arrivals. Don’t forget our 29 proud sponsors who have made the event possible with many advertising geocachers specials.Especially “Riverina Campingworld “ with its 20% storewide discount. The Kurrajong Reserve is closed again tomorrow for arrival of a lot of infrastructure . The Riverina Geocaching Committee is almost ready to produce the first ever 4 day camping and Geocaching Mega event that will be highlighted by a good times and great country hospitality. Thankfully, Greg President

Hi Big Matt. There are many who are keen to log the event as a FTF. To make it fair all teams will have their names added to a barrel and the the winner drawn will have the privilege of logging the event as a FTF, this will take part on Sunday evening. I understand fully about milestone logs but this gives everyone a chance to have a FTF. If anyone wants to talk about this I can be contacted on the Coffee Hotline 0401 496649. Regards Mr.Coffee and the "if you cant remember my mobile number just look for your nearest Coffee shop" Coffee Clan.

I managed to already drop off about half of the TBs and coins that wanted to go anywhere in Australia and I have some that I brought specifically for the event in the hopes that I can pass them off to a cacher who can complete their mission. All told, I'll be dropping off about 30 of them. I'm really hoping to find cachers who can take TBs/coins back to Germany.

Getting ready to head off after work tomorrow. We will have our traveler collection with us for discovery however we are only going to drop the geomobile tb into the event list. Keep an eye out on the back window, white jackaroo with the pod on the roof. Garry 0433279180 Tracey 0433743413

Hi Mr Coffee, FTF andd FTL (First to Log) are very different things. To be honest I really don't give a rats about being first to find.I have just never seen a person take the approach to delete a log when a person has actually attended an event. Obviously thing happen a bit different down there in Mexico... There has been a deal of talk on forums and yahoo groups about people with the same intentions as me, for those of us who are time poor and are not able to complete logs at work we just wanted to get some logs done during down time. Whilst I don't agree with the intention of your committee, I'm not going to waste my time and enter a log twice. It may pay to add this point onto the main page! See you all there, only one more sleep!
31st
By no means does FTF mean that you have to be the first to log. I fully agree about raffleing off the FTF honour, but I certainly won't be waiting days or weeks for that person to log their find. I have purposely made the event a milestone cache and have many more caches in Wagga to do, so I won't be mucking up my numbers by logging the event out of sync.
31st
I agree with big math here! How and when you log the event should be free of choice, this has nothing to do with a FTF and I never heart of a FTL(first to log?). There is actually already a attended log??? that is really strange without the event being started. Secondly if you go to the event and leave early (say saturday or sunday) and you come home, you should be able to make an attended log. Otherwise it gets confusing and everyone is relying on the one person who wins the FTF to log first?(if this person is even present at sunday evening)

Opps, did I stir up a hornets nest about camping outside for the FTF? It was meant to be purely tongue in cheek. I also think people are (hopefully) reading the following statement- The “ FTF “ log will be awarded to the winner drawn out on Sunday Night of the main Mega Competition.Any team who logs prior will have their log deleted.- out of context. Hopefully it is supposed to mean anyone attempting to log an FTF for the event, other than the winner on the Sunday (assuming the winner logs it immediately once won) will have that log deleted. Not just general run of the mill (not claiming FTF) attended logs. Cheers Bundy
31st
I understand everyone's concern with logging, FTF's and milestones. Those who have left some interesting comments on my mobile phone you take down geocaching to a new level that I didnt think was possible. I will work in with the committee for an amicable solution for eveyone. The concept was to give someone a FTF on the event. I didnt see that as a problem as I will back date my attended log to be my first one that I post for the Friday, making it stay in sequence. As I said I will work on a best solution. Regards Mr.Coffee and the "Yes I do have a cache called Copping Flack lol" Coffee Clan.

too bad Bronze is not attending with his Tea Pot, coin drop.

We'll wait and see what the committee has to say. As I said I'm just trying to be efficent and get my logs in. Otherwise it will be later in the week before I get them done. I'm a bit concerned about Mr Coffee's allegations about comments on his phone, I don't see why anyone would go to that level. Even more concerning is it must be someone you know to get your number... how about naming the person? BTW, here are a few coins...

Some more Committee updates: The weather is always a big factor for an outdoors event like this and we have been fortunate to get a great forecast. Although it is raining a bit at present today ,its all clear sailing after that . Thursday 1 st April : Fine min’ 12 to 25. Good Friday 2nd April: Sunny min’13 to 26. Easter Saturday 3rd April :Sunny min’ 11 to 23 Easter Sunday 4th April : Fine min’ 10 to 22. Easter Monday 5th April: Sunny min’ 9 to 23. Then fine for the next 3 days. Most of the Committee is at the campground from Monday to Thursday for all components of the set –up.The entire area has never looked greener or better and even the moat with island on it within the campground has water in it for the first time in a long time. The team Registrations have escalated a lot in recent days from 275 to 295 teams. Geocoin orders have now closed. Each campsite position is being marked today with a position information marker .There is no pre-event reserve system. The marker will give campers the idea of where to camp and the exact space involved including your car. All arrivals on Friday from 9 am will be greeted at the entrance gate by marshals all wearing “Oz Mega Wagga Wagga “ logo’d fluro vests. At the first checkpoint another marshal will direct you to either a “Day Parking “ region if you are not camping, or further onwards to the actual “Camping Spots†if you are camping or bunking.Further marshals will be located at the camp spots for your guidance .All roads within the areas are one way roads. Please park within your campsite and then either set-up camp and register or visa versa. 5 kph and 10 kph camp speed signs apply. The TB tables are all set up ready and this will be open for 4 days and have volunteers assisting at all times. There is now just over 400 in the ‘inventory “ The main Oz Mega Competition will be available on a disc with all waypoints supplied .50 will be available on loan from the Secretary’s desk to download and return shortly after for those who wish ,or otherwise all competition sheets are supplied. Safe driving . Greg President.
